Durfee Hilltoppers - Varsity Hockey: Video Clips/Pictures: 1999-2000 Big 3 Conference All-Stars

Jimmy Connolly (f), Jay Crowley (d), Craig Feldman (d)
These three Hilltoppers were major reason why Durfee went 4-0-0 in conference play. First, Connolly scored the game-winning goals in a 4-1 win over New Bedford at Driscoll Rink and also had the game-winning goal in Durfee's 4-0 win over Brockton at Asiaf Rink. In the second meeting against the New Bedford Whalers, Connolly had 3 goals and 3 assists while in the Hilltoppers' first game with Brockton, he assisted on Kevin Narciso's game-winning goal.

Junior defenseman Jay Crowley was also a major contributor to the Hilltoper success. Crowley scored big late-game goals in both wins over Brockton. He was always used at the point on powerplays and was also an outstanding penalty-killer. His biggest assets are his ability to take the body, get to loose pucks quickly and great end to end rink rushing ability.

Senior Craig Feldman, the steadiest of the Durfee defensemen tallied five assists in the four games played. He was always known for making the right decisions on the ice and very seldom turned the puck over. He had the ability to get to lose pucks quickly and was also very difficult for opposing forwards to beat. He played on both the powerplay and penalty-killing units.

The backbone of the Durfee success was goaltender John Friar. In the four conference games played, Friar posted an outstanding 1.50 g.a.a. which included a shutout over Brockton, 4-0 at Asiaf Rink. That game clinched the Big Three title for Durfee. Friar was always recognized for giving his team the "big save" when they needed one.

Kevin Narciso, forward
Senior Kevin Narciso, the teams leading scorer this year always played "big" when it came to Brockton and New Bedford. He and linemate Jimmy Connolly always seem to give the Boxers and Whalers a tough night's work. He tallied 4 goals and 3 asssits in the four conference games. He had the game-winning goal in the Hilltoppers' 4-2 win over Brockton at Driscoll Rink.

Sophomore defenseman Kevin Marques made a lasting impression on his Big Three Conference opponents with his solid and aggressive style of play. He wasn't shy when it came to throwing his weight around and was an important factor in Durfee's success. In the four Big Three Conference games played, opponents averaged only 1.5 goals a game against the Hilltoppers.
