Sunday, September 25

Unfortunately for our boys, they knew they would only have 1 game going in to Sunday at the Midwest Soccerfest and that they would miss the playoffs regardless of their result vs. FC America.  Despite having no chance of advancing to the finals, our boys came out and played strong vs. a fast FC America team.  Dubuque would score the first goal of the game, and would take that goal in to halftime with a 1-0 lead.  FC America would not go away however, and came out in the 2nd half and scored 2 quick goals putting our boys down 1-2 midway through the 2nd half.  After a good goal scored off a rebound from the crossbar by Zach, Sam would follow up with a goal of his own by taking matters in to his own hands by carrying the ball from goal to goal and burying what would end up being the game winning goal.  Ryan would end the game with a free kick just outside the 18-box by floating the ball in over the keepers head and just under the bar.
It was great to get the boys a win in this tournament, as they certainly deserved at least one win with the effort they put forth, notably on Saturday.  They look to continue their momentum this coming weekend when they face off against a U12 team from Cedar Rapids, and another tough Cedar Valley team, with both games in Dubuque.
Great tournament this weekend boys!
