The boys entered the Midwest Soccerfest a little disappointed with a very last minute schedule change in both times and a promotion to the Gold division that wasn't justified.  With that - our boys will not back down from a challenge and they made the best out of a very long Saturday for them.
In their first game they would again face a Cedar Valley Select Blue team that they have seen twice already this year.  With a 2-0 victory in their first meeting, and a 10-0 loss in their 2nd, the boys would be looking to gain advantage in their series.  The DSC boys played a very competitive game against a Cedar Valley team that was probably a bit better than our boys at this stage.  While Cedar Valley played a bit more physical and faster due to their size advantage over us, our boys played them very competitively in this game, and had an opportunity to tie the game 3-3 in the 2nd half if not for a goal called back due to a hand ball.  As our boys pushed to make up the difference late in the game, Cedar Valley scored a few break-aways with very long through-balls that we just couldn't catch up to, and they would end with the 6-2 result in their favor.  Despite the score, our boys showed that they can overcome a bigger/faster opponent by playing within themselves and making quick decisions with the ball, which they did at times during this game.
After sitting around for 6 hours (thanks tournament schedulers, great job) our boys got themselves ready to play their 2nd tournament game vs. a JUSC team that they have not seen yet.  JUSC would prove to be a very competitive match-up for our boys, and they played very evenly the entire game.  Both teams played with good organization and played the game the correct way.  Down by a 1-0 score at halftime, the boys came out firing and connecting passes at the start of the 2nd half and easily outplayed JUSC for the firt 15 minutes of the 2nd half.  With the score tied at 2-2 and about 10 minutes left, JUSC earned a Penalty Kick and would bury it in the back of the net.  With DSC down by a goal, we attempted some different line-ups to try and get some additional pressure on their keeper, but would give up 2 more goals before the complete darkness would set in and the game would end 5-2 in favor of JUSC.  We do play JUSC again later this year, and the re-match will be a lot of fun as we set our goals to even up our series with them.
