Coach Austin's Comments:

4/9 Doyline 10 Castor 9

Patrick Smith 4-5 with a home run and Jesse Gallegos had a 2 run single. Caleb Hayden came in and pitched the final 1 2/3 to pick up the win.

4/7 Doyline 7 Quitman 10

Tough Loss as we simply ran out of pitching. Caleb Hayden went 2-3 and Patrick Smith went 2-4 with a home run.

4/6 Doyline 10 Haynesville 9

Doyline defeats Haynesville in 8 innings. Our pitching and hitting were pretty good but we had too many errors. David Sexton went 3-4 HR, Patrick Smith 2-3 double and Dakota Loftin had 2 hits and a great catch in center field. Caleb Hayden and David Sexton combined  for 16 strikeouts.  Doyline 11-6 1-0

4/3 Doyline 16 Dodson 1

Taylor Carter 2-3 double and triple, Patrick Smith 2-4 double, Caleb Hayden 2-3. David Sexton got the win striking out 6 in 3 1/3 innings. Doyline 10-6 1-0

3/30 Doyline 1 St Mary 6

I was real proud of our pitching yesterday as Caleb Hayden held a very potent offense to 1 run going into the 5th. They scored 2 in the 5th and 3 more in the 6th all off of homeruns. DJ Sexton came in and pitched the last inning and a 3rd and held them scoreless. I think our pitching is just getting better as the season tracks on. Our hitting wasn't as great, but we faced probably the best pitching we have faced all year long. DJ Sexton, Patrick Smith, Taylor Carter and Dakota Loftin all had singles. Our next outing is set to be a district game with Dodson home at 4:00. Hope to see you there.

3/21 Doyline 16 Bossier 13

This was ugly on both sides of the field. Both teams were out of experience pitching and also riddled with errors. We scored 11 runs in the first inning and our defense just decided to lay down. Along with errors, we had 6 walks and a hit batter in the first two innings. Brendon Walter ended up getting the win. Caleb Hayden had to come in and get the last two outs of the ballgame. After being intentionally walked a couple of times, Patrick Smith connected with a pitch for a homerun. D.J. Sexton continued to be hot with the bat going 3 for 4 with a double. Caleb Hayden, Taylor Carter and Jesse Gallegos also had doubles. Brendon Walter had two singles. Our next outing will be Thursday at Weston for our first district game at 3:30. 3/21 Doyline 5 Logansport 0

We were short on starters today due to the Literary Rally and still found a way to win. D.J. Sexton got the win pitching 5 innings while striking out 7. It was a great game for him because he also led our offense almost hitting the cycle with a homerun, a double and a single. Caleb Hayden had a double and a single and Patrick Smith had two singles. With three starters out and everybody out of position, I thought this was a great effort. Good game guys.

3/20 Doyline 3 Zwolle 11

The panthers looked pretty good for a few innings, but just couldn't hold back the potent Zwolle offense. Caleb Hayden took the loss on the mound. Our defense was pretty good and our offense was OK, they just hit the ball. We were led by D.J. Sexton and Patrick Smith with two singles a piece. Justin Myers and Jesse Gallegos also had a hit a piece. This game put us in the Consolation side of the Stanley Tournament.

3/17 Doyline 11 Simsboro 0

What a beautiful day for baseball! The panthers pounded out 11 hits in the 11-0 victory against a young Simsboro team. We were led by Taylor Carter going 2-4 with a grandslam homerun with a total of 5 RBI's on the day. Also DJ Sexton was 3 for 4 and Patrick Smith was 2 for 3. DJ Sexton pitched 4 shutout no-hit innings and then Taylor Carter capped his day off with a no-hit fifth in relief. Next on the menu is a rematch with Zwolle at the Stanley Tournament. I hope to give them a better game than than we gave them on the last meeting. The game will start at 6:30. Hope to see you at the park.

3/10 Doyline 8 Converse 9

We had alot better effort Tuesday than the game against Zwolle Saturday. It was a come from behind game as we scored 6 runs in the 5th. I don't have the book on this game summary so I am going on memory. I do know Patrick Smith led the offense with 2 hits, one of which was double. Caleb Hayden was given the loss, even though he pitched a great game. Our defense was pretty good and our offense was real good. Dakota Loftin had a big hit that scored some runs. Also Justin Meyers had a big hit that scored some runs. D.J. Sexton also had two hits. Our next outing is supposed to be Thursday, but I'm pretty sure the rain is going to get us. I will update you later.

3/7 Doyline 0 Zwolle 11

This was not a good effort by the panthers. No bright spots at all. We had 5 defensive errors and only two hits. I can't think of a bright spot to mention. Zwolle has a good offensive team and we look forward to seeing them again in the Stanley Tournament for another shot. Today we play Converse at 5:00 at home. I hope to see you there.

3/6 Doyline 5 Anacoco 2

It was a win and that is about all. Caleb Hayden pitched the complete game. Our offense was kind of quiet. Dakota Loftin led the team with 2 singles. Patrick Smith had a 3 run homerun and Taylor Carter had a double. The two runs that were scored on Caleb were unearned. We will take the win.

3/4 Doyline 14 Simsboro 0

The offense came alive yesterday via two panther batters, Taylor Carter and Patrick Smith. They combined for seven of the nine hits. Patrick Smith was four for four with two doubles and Taylor Carter had three singles. Also, Caleb Hayden and Jamaal Ward had singles. The winning pitcher was DJ Sexton not allowing any hits. Patrick Smith came on in relief and didn't allow any hits. The last 2 innings were pitched by Taylor Carter who also didn't allow any hits. Our next outing will be in the Zwolle Tournament at 5:00 against Anacoco. Look to see you there.

2/24 Doyline 10 McCleod Tx 1

Once again, Caleb Hayden got the win. Brendon Walter finished out the game pitching the last inning. Caleb Hayden, Patrick Smith, and Jamaal Ward all had doubles in the game. Our next outing will be against Simsboro at home. We haven't decided on a day yet, due to basketball playoffs. Look for an update in the near future.

2/24 Doyline 14 Huntington 0

The DHS bats came alive early on a cold Saturday morning in the sleet and rain. Caleb Hayden started the game and faced just 6 batters before being pulled early in case of duty for later in the day bringing on Brendon Walter to finish out the game. The offense was led by DJ Sexton with 2 doubles. Patrick Smith also had a double. Everybody but one in the lineup had at least one hit. 

2/26 Doyline 0 Sarepta 11

Missing 5 starters to basketball/enough said.

2/24 Doyline 3 Bossier 2

The panthers defeated Bossier yesterday 3 -2 in a very competitive game. Caleb Hayden started pitching the game going 4 innings striking out 5. D.J. Sexton came in and got the win pitching 3 innings also striking out 5. Both pitchers had great outings. Bossiers pitching was just as successful limiting the panthers to just 3 hits. Led by Patrick Smith with a 2 run homerun, Caleb Hayden had a double and Taylor Carter had a single. Freshman outfielder Jesse Marado made a game saving catch in right field that was a key turning point in the game that saved us from allowing several runs. Our next outing will be Thursday at home verses Sarepta at 5:00.
