TRYOUTS AND SIGN UP DATES

TRYOUTS

We will hold tryouts for the JV and V teams on May 6th, 7th and 8th at Garrison School in Dover 5:30 to 7:30pm. Athletes entering grades 6- 8 in the Fall, who are from Dover (including St. Marys),  Barrington, Nottingham and Northwood-the Dover HS District area, or surrounding towns who do not offer a recreation program are eligible to try out and male athletes are welcome.

We encourage everyone to tryout regardless of your skill level or experience... this is an instructional recreation program!

Parents will need to sign registration and release forms on the first night of tryouts so be sure to stop in that first night.

Athletes are expected to attend all three nights of tryouts as the first two nights they will be taught basic skills as well as a short cheer and dance.  On the third night they will be evaluated in groups to determine team placement.

There is NO COST to tryout! A registration fee of $70 will be collected after the tryouts at the first parent meeting. Parents will be responsible to the athletes personal equipment- shoes and undergarments.

Summer cheer camp dates and costs are under review by the coaches and that information will be made available at tryouts. It will be mandatory for both JV & V teams to attend and costs about $250 in total for camp and camp wear. With the help and support of the parent boosters most of these costs can be lessened through fundraisers. (attend the parent boosters meeting on the 19th to get things rolling!)

Practices will be twice a week with one game on the weekend. Practice schedules should be set by mid to late summer-we work with the DHS cheerleading program to provide space and mats for all the Dover cheerleading teams in the Dover High gym.

Gymnastics classes at Tri Star are encouraged though any gymnastics classes will benefit your athlete.  At the high school level gymnastics skills are required and as a feeder to DHS we try to prepare our athletes for a successful transition so it will benefit your child to start as early as possible. We will contact Tri Star for the costs and times available for fall classes.

SIGN-UPS

During tryout week we will also be accepting signups for our Mini, Breakers and JV Prep teams(see team pages for details on these teams). A registration fee of $60 is due at signups for Minis and Breakers and $70 is due for JV Perp. Teams are filled on a first come first served basis and once teams are full a wait list will be started.

Sign-ups will run May 6-8 at Garrison School from 5:30-7:30pm.

PARENTS

When your son our daughter becomes part of DLG...so do you! We are a non profit, recreation program run and coached by volunteers and we need parent support  and involvement to have a successful season!

We WILL fundraise and that will all go back to benefit your child so the more parent involvement we get from the start the more the teams benefit.

We look forward to working with a strong parent boosters to support the program so get involved!
