St. Dots’ Varsity Soccer vs. Holy Child (9/29/09)

Written by: Jake Miller

You should have been at Steel Field watching the St. Dorothy’s Chargers vs. Holy Child Academy Varsity Soccer Game. The first 7 minutes into the game, Anthony Giacomin took a great shot across the goal to score. Five minutes later Jake Miller dribbled down field and finally scored his first goal of the season. Then HCA had a breakaway right in front of the St. Dots’ goaltender, Kevin Flatley. The forward on HCA took an explosive shot about 6 feet away from Kevin….Kevin was knocked about 2 feet, but still saved the ball! The St. Dots’ attack was moving the ball well with crisp passing throughout the game. Jake Miller took a quick throw-in to Anthony Giacomin, who slid a pass to Jake Callahan who scored on a strong shot to put St. Dots up 3-0.

The St. Dots’ defense played aggressive the entire contest-only allowing 2 goals-special acknowledgement to Brian Sayers, Allysa Saputelli, Allison Downey, Chris Stone, Ryan O’Neill, Caroline Garvey, Dan Rayner and Austin Burke. Michael Salomone and Andrew Gallagher had a great offensive game filled with good passing.

Anthony Giacomin finished the scoring on a breakaway with only 2 minutes left in the game. So, the final score was 4-2, with St. Dots on top, with an early record of 2-3. That’s all for this game summary and don’t forget to check next time for the next Chargers soccer update.

Oh yes, one more thing, happy birthday Kevin and thank you Mr. Burke for stepping up to referee.
