This afternoon, the Dorman swim team recognized four seniors who participated in their last regular season home swim meet. Paced by Jared Gentry (last week's Hardees Athlete of the Week) and James Weber the Dorman mens' team defeated Byrnes 174-97.
Lauryl Williams and Tori Angermeier, both winning two events each, led the Lady Cavs to a 210-53 win in Region II AAAA action.
Great job seniors. Chad, Costa, Jim, and Jay! - it just tickles me to death to see sooooo many parents involved! Swimmers be sure to thank them!

Dorman Announces New Swim Coaching Staff
|
Dorman High School is pleased to announce the hiring of two new swim
coaches for the 2009-2010 school year. The new coaches are replacing
the former head coach, Amy Thomson, who moved out of state shortly after
last season and assistant coach John Sewell, who is stepping down to
focus on his other Dorman coaching assignments.
The new head coach is Jim Raymond. Coach Raymond is a Furman
University graduate and has been an assistant and head swim coach at
Irmo High School. Last season he led both the boys and girls' teams at
Irmo to top ten finishes in the state swim meet. Coach Raymond will be
teaching physical education in Spartanburg School District Six.
The new assistant coach is Meredith Wentzel. Coach Wentzel was an
accomplished high school swimmer at Boiling Springs and she swam
collegiately at Penn State University. She has previously served on the
swim coaching staff at Boiling Springs High School and has several years
coaching experience at the club swimming level. Coach Wentzel will
serve as a Career Development Facilitator at the Dorman Freshman
Campus.
The two new coaches join the Dorman program that has been on the rise
in recent years in terms of both participation and competitive success.
Last year, the boys' swim team won the Region 2-AAAA title for the first
time in school history and finished fourth in the state meet. The
girls' team finished third in the state meet. Ten Dorman swimmers
either won individual or relay event state championships in the last
year's state meet.
Dorman Cavaliers dot Com and all of Cavalier Country welcome both of you to our team. Best wishes for a great swim season.
