Dorman Welcomes - Jesse Dyar

Jesse Dyar was introduced to the baseball players during a meeting held at Dorman High School today as the new head varsity baseball coach.  Coach Dyar replaces Matthew West who served as head varsity baseball coach for the past two seasons at Dorman.  Coach West will remain as an assistant coach on the Dorman baseball staff.

Coach Dyar is a 2005 graduate of Point University in East Point, Georgia.  He played baseball there for four years and was the captain of the baseball team for three years.  He served as an assistant coach at Point University for the 2006 and 2007 seasons and was the head coach from 2008 to 2014.  Coach Dyar led Point University to the 2010 NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) national championship.  His teams made three NCCAA World Series appearances during his tenure at Point University.  Coach Dyar has won numerous coaching awards including the 2012 Georgia Dugout Club NAIA Coach of the Year and the 2014 NCCAA South Region Coach of the Year.

Dorman High School Athletic Director Flynn Harrell said that “Dorman is getting a top notch baseball coach and a top notch individual to lead the Cavaliers.  Coach Dyar was respected as a player and a coach on and off the field.  He has proven to be an outstanding college baseball coach and I know that he will be able to bring out the best in our Dorman baseball program.  We are also very appreciative of the hard work and dedication that Coach West has given to our program and we know that he will be a valuable asset to our program moving forward.”
