Alma Mater - What you may not know!
Dorman is probably unique among public high schools in this country in having both an Alma Mater and a fight song written especially for it, rather than being "adopted" from a familiar tune. Earl Mays, a gifted composer and retired Army band director, was the first band director at the new Dorman High School in 1964, and he composed both of these fine and stirring pieces. He did this without any thought of recognition or gain, but just as a matter of course of his job. (How many other high school band directors would have even thought of, much less have been capable of, such a task?) This gave some instant tradition to a new high school, which has now become genuine tradition for over forty years, thanks to his talent.

Dorman Athletes Participating In Summer Leagues

If you are already having withdrawals from not seeing local high school sports, fear no more. Many of our Dorman Cavaliers are participating in summer league sports from baseball to swimming. The Spartanburg Herald-Journal usually has a schedule of the recreational sports schedules in the paper.

Summer Swim League is holding their meets on Tuesday nights at various club pools across the Spartanburg area. On most weekends you can find a softball team playiong in travel ball at the 295 complex. If you are a baseball fan, American Legion is right for you as some of the best high school talent plays on different Post teams. For those of you itching for football, it's coming. Passing leagues will be starting up shortly at Dorman and other schools around the area.

If you have specific information about Cavalier players in summer action, please send us the info.
