 Congratulation Austin!

Congratulations to Austin Taylor from Serra Mesa Little League and the Mesa League for being awarded the Cy Lavoti Junior Umpire School Scholarship for 2009. For those who don't know, Cy Livoti is a past Western Region Umpire In Chief. The Western Region Little League Umpire Alumni Association (WRLLUAA) is proud to sponsor this scholarship. Austin is 15 years old and has played Little League for 9 year and has umpired for 3 years. Austin had to submit an essay explaining his future umpiring goals and why the scholarship would be important to him. Austin will be joining other winners of this award at this year's Junior Umpire School at Western Regional Headquarters in San Bernardino later this month. Way to go Austin!

Getting ready to make the jump to the Big Diamond? Never umpired on a field with 90 foot bases? Then this clinic is for you!!! This clinic is open to umpires from all leagues in District 33. It will be an advanced clinic, for experienced umpires. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Clinic will be hosted by Tierrasanta Little League at DePortola Middle School located at 11010 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. The big field is behind the school. This year's clinic is hosted by La Mesa Little League, located at 8400 University Ave, La Mesa CA 91941 on Sunday, March 15th 8:00am to 12:00 noon. This clinic is open to umpires from all leagues in District 33. If you are an experienced umpire come shake off the rust. If you are a rookie umpire come learn some basics which will make umpiring more enjoyable. If you are a junior umpire come out and learn the rules. If you just want to know what the umpire job is you are welcome to attend.

Both plate and base mechanics will be covered. There will be instruction in two-man umpire mechanics. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Bring plate gear if you have it.
