The Detroit Metro Sports Commission (DMSC) markets and sells metro Detroit as a premier destination for regional, national and international amateur sporting events. The Detroit area has a long, successful history of hosting a variety of tournaments and events including USA, NCAA, AAU and USSSA events. Metro Detroit is also the chosen location for: 2005 MLB All Star Game 2006 Super Bowl 2007 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships 2008 AAU Junior Olympic Games 2009 NCAA Mens Final Four 2010 NCAA Men's Frozen Four Event organizers will find metro Detroit is home to numerous, world-class stadiums, arenas and other athletic venues and the area's hotel and restaurant accommodations are second to none. And after the event metro Detroit has numerous, one-of-a-kind attractions for athletes, families and guests to enjoy. The DMSC offers a wide variety of services to the event organizer and the community. The commission will: Serve as the chief link between amateur sports groups and metro Detroit corporations, civic groups and DMSC membership (including hospitality and service providers) to provide one-stop shopping for event organizers Match events and sponsors with local facilities, accommodations and businesses Help amateur sports groups secure corporate sponsorships to help offset event expenses Develop a bank of volunteers from which event organizers can draw Arrange special events for participants Build relationships to provide media coverage Measure and provide event economic impact reports for the community and DMSC membership Provide opportunity for local youth to participate in clinics and events The DMSC is a not-for-profit charitable organization, IRS 501 (C) (3), and a subsidiary of the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau. |
