Guys this was just an awesome experience. From little to big the kids were unreal in the heat and working through the drills and learning a ton.... just phenomenal guys. Next year is gonna be bigger and better than ever. Thanks to Coach Derby, Coach Mike, Coach Isaac Parker from South Salem, Coach Doug Hire from Linfield, Coach and Player Keola Loo for making the long trip up!! To the Rice family... what can I say. We could not have done this without you..... Post your own experinces guys and see you next year!
Big Men can be Fast and Quick! 1 0 12/14/2004 3:42pm
It is Clear to me that the difference between a good linemen and a great linemen is not size but technique and speed. Most fans of the Sport never appreciate how fast some of these guys really are because the D1 and Pros you see on TV are all just crazy fast! This is why Coach Derby is helping so many linemen develop. It is not really about the size... everybody is big and everybody is strong but not everybody if Quick! That is what his goal is...to make a big guy Quick with great technique...to prove big men can be fast too... This can be coached and taught and is essential to success...

Size... How much does Size really matter at the O-line?

Size does matter but quickness and technique do too... 0 0 none
I say size is great but a waste if you can not move it to the point of impact or the key blocking space. Remember: Mass X Velocity equals Force M X V = F Force is the most important thing. Mass is great but much better when combined with Velocity ( Quickness) and that can be acheived!
