HAWKS FINISH 5TH AT BASEBALL HEAVEN OVER JULY 4TH
The Hawks returned to BBH tournament play after traveling to Staten Island for the Blue Chip Great American Classic and hosting the Bear Invitational.
Michael Trabulsi took the mound and defeated the LI Braves with relief help from Matt Benedetto and Kyle Ambury in game one.
Tom Tolan led the offense with 4 hits and 3 rbi's while Chris Patti contributed 2 each.
Joe Clines held the MLI Phantoms in check in game 2 with relief help from Ambury. Kevin McCarthy had 2 hits and 3 rbi's while Matt Benedetto had 2 hits and scored twice in the 4 - 4 tie.
Needing to beat the Staten Island Knight to advance to the elimination round a close game for 5 innings ended in a 10 - 2 defeat.
Kevin McCarthy took the mound in the consolation round rematch and held the MLI Phantoms in check allowing 4 hits over 5 innings. Sean McCartney picked up the save in the 8 - 4 win. A balanced offense showed signs of coming out of a long slumber.

Wins over the Hunterdon Hitman, Staten Island Knights and NJ Jersey Knights gave the Hawks the number # 1 seed from Pool A in Philadelphia.
Sean McCartney had a double, triple and home run while Richard Doyle had 3 hits and Tom Tolan 2 in the first round 9 - 3 win over the Hitmen. Michael Trabulsi gave up only 2 runs in 5 innings out of the bullpen for the win.
McCartney had 3 hits in the second game, including the game winning triple against a hard throwing right hander from the Staten Island. Joe Florio had 2 hits and Chris Bifulco a key run scoring single with 2 outs in the 7th iniing of the 3 - 2 win.
McCartney limited the Knights to just 3 hits over 6 innings. Doyle picked up the save hurling the final frame.
Kevin McCarthy took the hill in the third game and went 5 innings in the closing game of pool play. Matt Benedetto closed the door for the save.
In the elimination round the NJ Jaguars pound out 14 hits in a 10 - 5 win. Chris Patti and Joe Florio had 2 hits each but a late game rally fell short to the eventual tournament champion Jaguars. Billy Kavanagh tossed 3 innings of solid relief giving the team a chance for a comeback.

Hawks Finish Second at BBH Memorial Day Tournament
The season started with rival Team Mizuno and those watching the game were not disappointed. The teams battled to a 1 - 1 tie over 8 innings. Outstanding pitching and defensive gems came from both teams.
Charlie Steinman's first inning home run lead the offense in a 8 - 3 win over the Smithtown Wildcats as Richard Doyle picked up the win in his Hawks pitching debut in game one on Saturday.
Michael Trabulsi shut down the LI Ducks in the second game surrending a single run on 3 hits over 5 innings. Sean McCartney's first inning home run was supported by 2 hits each from Matt Benedetto and Joe Clines.
The highlight of a disappointing 4th round loss to The CT Wreckers was Joe Florio's long home run. After BBH sorted out confusion over the elimination round the Hawks took on the LI Steel in the semi-finals. Kyle Ambury got the win pitching 5 1/3 innings getting offensive support from Chris Bifulco and Michael Trabulsi. The finals were a rematch of the opening round game against Team Mizuno. Mizuno played a flawless game and won the championship.
