Delaware Storm: Mission Statement
Mission Statement
The mission of the Delaware Storm teams are to promote personal growth, leadership skills, build individual character through baseball and softball to prepare the boys and girls to become productive student-athletes.
The following information is intended for players and families who are considering playing baseball or softball with the Delaware Storm team. It will provide information about the Delaware Storm and the specific goals and operations of our team. Most importantly, it will specify what to expect from our players, coaches, and parents.
We are very excited that you are considering playing baseball and softball with the Storm, and hope that you are also excited about being involved with an extremely energetic and competitive team. The first thing you should understand is that our primary goal is player development through playing competitive ball. To be successful, we must establish a philosophy and certain principles as a foundation in everything that we do. Our principle-based foundation is built on work ethic, attitude, skills, and confidence that it takes to play the game successfully.
Our success will be measured further into the future when the participants of our program are playing for their local school teams, and perhaps college and beyond. Consequently, we are looking for players and families who believe in these principles as we do. The philosophy that underlies the character of our team is embodied by three words that govern everything we do and every decision that we make: Dedication, Discipline, and Determination. In addition, we strive to build an organization that is respected for its fundamental principles: Integrity, Class, Competitiveness and Spirit.
Goals
Our primary goal is to develop players to be successful on and off of the field. This will improve their chances for playing on their local school teams. We believe that the ingredients necessary to achieve this goal are hard work, positive attitudes, excellent instruction, and playing in a competitive environment. We measure our progress towards that goal by the performance of our players and the character and spirit by which they compete.
Achieving this goal goes beyond the performance of the players. It also requires our families to show the same spirit and work ethic that we are asking of our players. Very few teams will spend as much time as the Storm do with practice and playing games. The coaches are fully committed to helping each player develop and have given up their own time to accomplish this goal. The coaches only ask that the parents match this commitment. Parents are seen as an extension of the coaching staff and will be asked on occasions to help with practices.
Philosophy & Principles
We are adamant in adhering to our fundamental philosophy and principles. Our philosophy sets the standard for our teams to follow. Our association will operate and be governed by a set of principles:
1. Integrity: shall be the overriding principle that will be present in all dealings with players, parents, sponsors, business partners, and other associations.
2. Class: will be the word that defines our reputation. We will put ourselves on exhibit as a first class organization in everything that we do.
3. Competitiveness: will be the result of reaching for excellence in developing our players and coaches.
4. Spirit: comes from a positive and enthusiastic attitude, not just from the teams but also especially from the families and friends that support the teams.
Our philosophy and overall goal will remain the same. But there are many steps that we must take to achieve our goal. We love this game and we want to help others to love it as we do. We must first and foremost help to promote the sport with kids of all ages, and as they grow to love the game and develop skills we can provide the opportunity to play at the highest competitive level.
