The Dreaded COWBELL!!

THE COWBELL!

Oh that dreaded cowbell. Opposing teams and parents hate the cowbell or should I say envy the cowbell.  They want to be unique like the Vipers! They chant and mimick the cowbell's ring....."why don't you ring the cowbell now" they say.  Sometimes we grant them their wish and ring for them other times we tell them to get their own Cowbell!

Next time you come see the Vipers play...listen for the Cowbell....clingaling clingaling!

Delaware Vipers Start off the 2009/2010 Season Undefeated in 2 tournaments

The Delaware Vipers 12U team started off the new season with 2 back 2 tournaments in September...going undefeated and winning both championships. The Vipers are off to a 9-0 start.

Our first tournament featured the Vipers playing SATB for the Labor Day Classic the weekend of Sept 5-7. The Vipers beat the Delaware Hurricanes in the championship game, coming from behind in the 6th inning down by 3 runs to win it all by a score of 5-4.  Joe Otto, Jullian Kurych and Chris Hammond combined had 8 homeruns that tournament. Joe Otto was named MVP by umpires for the tournament.

Our second tournament, Patriot's Day, was held at Ripken in Aberdeen, MD. The Vipers went 2-0 in bracket play, and was the #1 seed going into Sunday's playoff games. The Viper's won the first game 4-3 in a thriller. Jordan Carr came in to pitch in the 6th inning with 2 outs and a runner on 1st. One "pick off" move and the game was over.....no pitch needed to be thrown.

The Vipers played the Old Bridge Lightning 12U for the championship, and we blasted them with hit after hits. The final score was 11-2. Jullian Kurych was named MVP by umpires for the tournament. Winning pitcher was Jordan Carr.

The Ripken Experience

The Delaware Vipers just finished a week long tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We arrived Sunday morning for check in, and found out that Cal Ripken Jr would be at the complex this week! How exciting, we get to play baseball at an amazing complex and we get to have a meet and greet with Cal Ripken Jr! The boys asked some really great questions, and we followed up with group picture with Cal. Cal Ripken Jr only visits the complex 2 weeks out of the year, and we got lucky we picked a week he would be in town.

The boys had a slow start, but finished second in pool play. We came across a really good team from GA, and lost in the semi final game. Our final record placed us in 4th overall out of 16 teams. Not to shabby for a group of boys from Bear, Delaware!

We enjoyed watching the boys make sand castles on the beach, boogie boarding in the ocean, catching waves and being "flushed" in the water park, riding cars at the Nascar park, and just hanging out by the pool. Our experience at Myrtle Beach will be remembered for a lifetime.

From our family to yours, we thank you for allowing us to experience this with you all, and make lasting friendships with all the boys and families that came down.
