The 15 Time Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League Champion, Dartmouth Moosehead Dry, encourage you to browse our web page, and be sure to sign our guestbook!!

The Dartmouth Moosehead Dry enter the 2010  season, seeking  their 16th Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League championship. The Dry formed back in 1990 have played in the N.S.S.B.L. finals 18 out of the last 20 seasons. During that time, the Moosehead Dry has compiled an impressive regular season won-loss record of 456 wins and only 177 losses for a winning percentage of .720. Not only has the Dry’s winning success become synonymous within the Nova Scotia baseball community, but on a National level as well. The Moosehead Dry have medaled 7 times at the Senior Baseball Nationals, winning gold in Kamloops B.C. in 2005, Moncton, N.B. in 2004 and Weyburn, Saskatchewan in 1998, other medals included 3 silver(1996 Saskatoon, Sask., 1999 Chatham, N.B., 2001 Kentville N.S.) and a bronze in 1997 in Mount Pearl Nfld. Since 1990, 24 current or former players of the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry have played U.S. college baseball south of the 49th parallel. During that time span no less than 9 members of the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry have been selected in the Major League Entry Draft. The 2009 edition of the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry Ball Club will be hosting the   Canadian Senior Baseball Championships in late August.   With a core group of veterans and promising young talent. At the plate the Dry are led by former St. Louis Cardinal farmhand Darren Doucette, a former league MVP and 8-time all-star. Former National Team member , and New York Yankee draft pick, Joel Irvine a three-time league MVP and 13-time all-star, and offensive threat Greg West, a five time all-star.  On the mound the Dry have arguably the one of the top Senior League pitching staffs in Canada. Lefty Jason Bailey a 6-time all star, and former Los Angeles Dodgers farmhand, right hander Steve Nelson .  Detroit Tiger draft pick, and current UCONN starter, Matt McDonald , and Craig Langille ex Milwaukee Brewers minor league hurler, rounding out the rotation.

 PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

The Dartmouth Moosehead Dry in their 20th Anniversary season, would like to welcome you to the ball park for another exciting season of the best caliber baseball in Nova Scotia. Seeking our unprecedented 15th Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League title will keep our loyal fans on the edges of their seats until late September.  Looking forward to 2009, the Dry have been chosen as host for the  Canadian Senior Baseball Championships. We have a strong committee of dedicated volunteers in place and will definitely benefit from the usual flood of able bodied people by the time the event draws near. The interlocking schedule featuring teams from the New Brunswick Senior Baseball League was by all accounts a success last season. This year once again will give the fans of both leagues some perspective of the quality of baseball played in Atlantic Canada, which has produced three of the last four Canadian Senior Baseball Champions. Once again in the 2009 season, the Dry will be looking to attain the same level of success, synonymous with Dartmouth Moosehead Dry Baseball. Relying on class, commitment and a tradition of winning from which to draw for inspiration in this the 32nd season of the NSSBL.

Senior baseball is expensive entertainment to produce and I’d like to thank our team of dedicated, “off-field” support staff who work tirelessly to provide value and fun at the ballpark. The sponsors of our club over the years have made it possible for the Dry to enjoy many successful days and nights on the fields of Nova Scotia. As well, fans have had a chance to see the stars of tomorrow hone their skills in the NSSBL, major leaguers such as Rheal Cormier (currently pitching with the Moncton Mets),Jason Dickson , Vince Horseman, Matt Stairs,  and Bill Lee have thrilled fans in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Finally, I wish to give you, the faithful fans, a sincere thank-you for showing up at the ball park every Thursday night (no matter what the temperature!).  Follow the team during regular season action and watch the Dry go on
another championship run in the playoffs come September. See you on Thursday nights at Beazley Field for the greatest game on dirt.

A WINNING COMBINATION 20YEARS ............AND COUNTING!!
By Jody Jewers (Sports reporter with the Daily News)

It wasn’t their first name, and it might not be their last, but when you think of Dartmouth teams in the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League, you can't help but think Moosehead Dry. Moosehead Breweries will begin its 20th year as title sponsor of the Dartmouth franchise in 2009, and in an era where corporate dollars are increasingly hard to come by for sports teams, Moosehead remains committed to keeping senior baseball alive and well in the City of Lakes. “I know a lot of the guys personally, and I’ve always been very close to the team,” said Moosehead sales rep Danny O’Hearn, a past-president of the club. “They came to me 20 years ago, and I thought at the time it was a good fit for our company since we’re based in Dartmouth, and it’s been a good fit ever since.” Dartmouth was a charter member of the NSSBL in 1977 as the Indians, and lasted three seasons, reaching the playoffs once. In 1986, the team re-emerged as the Arrows, with that name sticking until 1989. In those four years, Dartmouth also made the playoffs just one time. As the Moosehead Dry, Dartmouth has enjoyed an unparalleled run of success. The Dry were the team of the 1990s, with eight Nova Scotia titles and medals at four national championships, including gold in 1998. Dartmouth is well on its way to establishing itself as the team of the new millennium, with Nova Scotia championships in 2001 and 2003, as well as silver at nationals in 2001. “I’ve been to six nationals with these guys,” said O’Hearn. “They even flew me out to Vancouver with them one year. They’ve always been a first-class group who are committed to winning and being professional in their approach. “As a sponsor, you want to look for people who fit the image we want to project, and it’s not just about selling beer. It’s a two-way street — they have a good image in the baseball community and that reflects well on the Moosehead name.” Nine current or former members of the Dry Joel Irvine, Trevor Zwaan, DarrenDoucette, Steve Nelson, Jamie Vallis, Joel Young , Matt McDonald,Craig Langille, and Luis Roberts — have been drafted by Major League Baseball teams. Nelson is currently in the Los Angeles Dodgers farm system. Since Moosehead became the team’s title sponsor, Dartmouth has never failed to reach the playoffs. “There’s no question in my mind that this team, probably the 1998 version, will someday be inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame,” said O’Hearn. That would be the ultimate honor for us as a company, to be associated with something like that.Any time you put your name on something, you want to see it be successful. Everyone wants to be known as a winner, and they’ve proven themselves to be the best year in and year out. We’ve been very fortunate to have had a great relationship with them, and hopefully for many more years to come.”
