End of season

Wednesday, March 21
Middle School- strong showing at Cal High School.

It is a good day to be an Oak

Parents,

I would like to thank all of you who made it out yesterday for some great Oaks Rugby. The day began with our Silver side against Marin. Our boys got off to a great start and won that game 34 - 15. Gold was up next and came out firing on all cylinders, leading Marin at half 34 - 0. The final score of that match was 49 - 5.

The next match brought more of the same. Silver played Pleasanton and finished very strong winning 24 - 12. We were a little sluggish out of the gate which I attribute to multiple juice boxes and bags of chips. Gold was up next and to be honest I lost track of the score on this one but believe we finished on top 48 - 7.

The highlight of the day for me was having several coaches from Marin and Pleasanton come up and personally tell me what an awesome group of kids we had. They said the Danville Oaks represent the best of youth Rugby and that they look forward to playing us each year.

I want to thank Ricky Serrano for all of his help, and everyone who brought snacks, cheers, and most importantly their boys to the game yesterday. It was a long day but one we'll be able to look back on with a great deal of pride.

Practice will be at the same field and time as last week.

Go Oaks!

Thanks,

Derek Holmberg

Oaks Online Store is still OPEN!
Oaks Online Store is still OPEN! This last window for ordering uniforms will close on 15 January 2012 so place your orders soon....

Updated uniform/merchandise ordering information

If you need to place an order for your Danville Oaks Rugby uniform, or you would like to purchase any of the Oaks merchandise, please see the following updated information.

Oaks Merchandise Ordering update- the first and second windows have closed. However, a new ordering window is currently open but will close on January 15th with shipment in late January/early February. link to the store here - http://danvilleoaks.alpineawards.com/

Uniform ordering-  We will have sample uniform jerseys at Thursday practices for sizing. If you look at the sizing chart on the store you will notice that they state that the XS jersey fits a person who is 120 lbs. This is not entirely accurate and smaller players do wear jerseys that fit well if somewhat loosely. If your child is U8, they are too small for the jersey and should purchase a black Oaks T-Shirt to wear at games. If they are U10, the jersey is optional but highly recommended. Some families opt to buy a jersey even if it will be somewhat large as the jersey easily lasts several years and players can grow into them.

Equipment Swap - Uniforms and Boots
This is an informal swap. Bring your outgrown jerseys, shorts, socks and boots/cleats to practices. Suggested prices for Oaks Jerseys - $20, shorts $10 and socks $5 assuming in good condition. Boots are up to the "swapper/swappee".

Explanation of Increased Registration Fee

Danville Oaks Rugby, a non-profit organization is always cognizant of cost to the families and we try to be a frugal with also providing an expanding top level program.

This year USA Rugby our governing body has instituted an accident Insurance policy for participants (Summary below –more details at www.USArugby.org). This was an increased fee of $10/player but with some benefit.

Also last year the Sports Alliance for the Town of Danville required an extra $10 per player for future new fields making that total now $15/player (This will be a benefit down the road).

USA Rugby members automatically receive two forms of insurance when they register: liability insurance and accident insurance.

These insurance policies are aimed at providing USA Rugby members with peace of mind and insurance coverage so that they can enjoy the sport without having to worry.

Below is a summary of the liability and accident insurance policies automatically provided to USA Rugby members.

Liability Insurance

Accident Insurance

Covers accident and bodily injury to third parties

Covers rugby-related accidents at practice, matches, and travel to and from those activities.

Reduces liability for registered members

Must be registered member prior to time of injury

Enables members to use facilities that require third party liability insurance coverage

This is secondary coverage, but will serve as primary coverage in the absence of other medical coverage

What Does The Oaks RFC Logo Represent
logo 1
The Oak tree is the symbol of Danville; it symbolizes, strength, size, longevity, and is coveted for its rich grain and sturdy disposition. The shield, used by warriors offensively and defensively, conjures thoughts of epic battles and going to war.  The color Black is a connection with strength, size, and power, whereas the Gold contrast shows brilliance and glory with imagery of speed and the sting of a wasp.
