Danville Oaks Summer Sevens
2012 Danville Rugby Sevens Academy Welcome to the sophomore season of Danville Rugby Sevens! Olympic Rugby will again be instructed by Rugby Academy and Danville Oaks Varsity Coaches Jon Straka and Roy Helu Sr. Special guest instructors will be featured throughout the season. An expansion of NCYRA’s Sevens series has changed last summer’s camp series into an entire season, one in which a champion will be crowned based upon cumulative points from each separate event. Last summer, Danville Rugby Sevens featured one of the top teams in California and was one of the only clubs to field multiple sides in tournament play. The season was highlighted by posting a 2-0-1 record in the Gold division at the second tournament of the Sacramento Valley Summer Sevens Series, recording a draw against the Sacramento Islanders and wins over Dixon and previously undefeated Motley, an All-Star team out of Sacramento. At the last Palo Alto Sevens tournament, Danville recorded a victory over a strong East Palo Alto team to finish the summer on a high note. Danville Rugby Sevens is structured to allow players and their families to go on vacation and come back without penalty. Our goal is that every weekend we will still be able to field at least one side at every age level. Practice Tuesdays and Thursdays June 5th – July 26th 4:30-6:30 at San Ramon Valley High School’s soccer field in Danville. NCYRA Sevens Events: Sunday, June 10- Sacramento Valley Summer Sevens Series: Dixon CA Sunday, June 17- Quicksilver Summer Sevens Tournament: San Jose CA Sunday June 24- Sacramento Valley Summer Sevens Series: Dixon CA Sunday July 8- Sacramento Valley Summer Sevens Series: Dixon CA Sunday July 22- Redwood Sevens Tournament: Corte Madera CA Sunday July 29- NCYRA Sevens Championship Tournament: Dixon CA

Note: U12, Middle School and JV tournaments are dependent on the number of teams entered by other clubs, which is currently unknown. Selection of sides: Number of teams to compete at tournaments will vary from week to week depending on number of players available. Gold sides will be limited to 10 players with Silver sides and beyond limited to 14. Silver players will get to play at least a half of each game.
