My child has been injured while at the ballfield, what do I need to do now?

Your child is at practice or playing a baseball/softball game one day and the worst case scenario happens... your child collides with another player, slides into the base too late, jumps over a player or a host of other scenarios and they are injured.
What happens now?

First and foremost is the need to treat your child as soon as the injury occurs.
Many times it may just require the need of some ice. Ice can be found already bagged and ready for injuries in our concession patio in a small white freezer. This freezer has ice for injuries only.

If the need for any bandages or basic first aid items are needed then each home team dugout has a first aid kit with minor first aid accessories.

If the injury is more serious then the 911 should be called to the field to render assistance. A BOD member should be advised and called to the field if one is available.

Your only concern at this point should be the treatment of your child.

If they require treatment at the emergency room go ahead and get it.Your primary insurance card should be given at that time. Once the immediate threat is over and your child is on the way to recovery you can start the process of insurance claims.

**The manager should have filled out an accident/incident report. These are done for any and all injuries that occur at our fields whether that is at DLLN ballfields or at an authorized DLLN practice field. The safety officer will collect them or you can give them to any BOD.

**Go to the http://www.LittleLeague.org website and download the AIC accident notification form. Fill it out and bring to the Safety Officer or League President and have them fill in the League ID# and sign it. You need to get the insurance information from the Safetly Officer and submit that to all Drs. Radiology and Hospitals that treat your child. Little League needs the Explanation of Hospital Charges sent to them as well so that they can take care of any deductibles you may be required to pay.

*****At this point you will take that form along with the explanation of benefits from your insurance company and submit it to the address at the top of the form you downloaded form Little League. The form "Accident Notification Form" needs to be sent in right away so that a case number can be assigned.   Any explanation of benefits or bills should be submitted to the address at the top of the form.

The Safety Officer will work with you to insure that you are steered in the right direction. Please keep in contact with them.
