The Dearborn High School Athletic Booster Club was formed over thirty five years ago by parents of student athletes as a way to organize and fund the "All Sports" banquets that are held at the end of each sports season. This tradition continues today, as the Booster Club sponsors six banquets per school year.
Over the years, the Booster Club has provided support and assistance to the athletic department at DHS in an effort to enrich the programs and activities offered therein. To accomplish these objectives, the Booster Club sponsors activities and undertakes a number of fundraising events. Past events include: Gus Macker 3 on 3 basketball tournament, Lift-A-Thon, TPC golf tournament, Homecoming pancake breakfast and pumpkin sale, and the Three night sports festival w/portable lights. All of these activities were organized and staffed by Booster Club volunteers!
Currently, fundraising activities include: Concessions for home athletic contests, City of Dearborn Homecoming celebration, and the Pioneer Golf Outing, but we are always looking for new ways to raise funds for future projects! With the help of our parent volunteers, the DHS Athletic Booster Club has contributed many items to support girls and boys athletics. Items include: Multiple scoreboards and sound systems, Championship/record boards in gymnasium and pool, Volleyball serve machine, Softball/baseball pitching machine, Wrestling mat and storage unit, Basketball shooting machine, Statistic computer equipment, Golf club training aids, Soccer practice equipment, Football digital scout system, Weight room rubberized flooring, Swim timing system, All sports printed programs, and Championship T shirts, warm up jackets, bags, swim suits, and parkas as needed. In addition, since 1996, the Booster Club has annually sponsored a scholarship award of $1000 each to a graduating male and female student athlete.
Participation in the Booster Club is not only about fundraising activities. Members donate their time and talents as announcers, timers, scorekeepers, and security at athletic events as well as sponsors of the Homecoming class games and bonfire. Please consider becoming involved! It's a great way to meet other parents and have some fun along the way.
