The DFFL Draft will be held in March of 2011
Hello and welcome to the official website of the Diamond Flag Football League. The DFFL will begin play in the spring of 2011. With two conferences, the Northshore Conference and the Southshore Conference.Each Conference will concise of four teams. These team are own by the DFFL and will play a11 game season with an post season with Conference Championships and followed a week later by the Diamond Bowl.
Rundown of DFFL info.Teams: There will be 4 DFFL teams in each Conference. Each team will name a caption. This caption will be appointed by the DFFL. It is up to the team caption to run the football team.
Players: Team captions will select 1 player as a assistant caption. All other players will have to enter the DFFL Draft.
DFFL Draft: For 2011 All players other than the team captions and assistant captions will have to enter the DFFL Draft. Both the Northshore Conference and the Southshore Conference will hold there own draft. This will insure players won’t have to cross the Causeway. Each team will draft till all players are drafted. All players that attend the DFFL combine will be drafted. Any players that come along after the draft will be place on a team by the DFFL. Weakness team will have 1st choice for walk on players. After the season, you may reenter the DFFL Draft for the following season or remain with the team that drafted you. You may not leave your team and join another DFFL team unless all parties are in agreement.
Trades: Trades are allowed. All parties MUST 100% agree on trade and it must be approved by the DFFL. The DFFL holds the right for any reason to decline any trade offer at anytime before the trade is finalize. (Only trading within the conference)
Combine: Each conference will host a DFFL combine. All the team captions are required to attend and all players that are entering the DFFL Draft should attend the conference combine. At the combine players will get to show there skills to the captions and have themselves rated for the up coming draft.
DFFL: There is a 5 on 5 Adult male only flag football league. DFFL is not a get together flag football league. The DFFL is for the best flag football talent in southeast Louisiana. The DFFL will be played on a 60yrd by 35yrd field. The DFFL will be what they call extreme flag football league. There are many rules that are not like the normal flag football leagues. Players may flag guard, block with there hands, bump and run coverage, field goals all players free rush at all times,, and more. See rulebook for all DFFL rules
Footballs: The DFFL will supply all game balls.
Team Names: The DFFL holds all naming rights to and for all DFFL teams. The DFFL will announce the 1st 2 DFFL team names by Thanksgiving. An announcement will follow saying when the next 2 team names will be announce. Teams name may not be change without the full permission off the DFFL.
Player Fees: will be announce soon.
Diamond Bowl: The Diamond Bowl will always be played at a nurture site. The 1st Diamond Bowl will be played at playmakers indoor arena. Located in Hammond Louisiana.
Basic Set Up I. Number of Players: There will be a maximum of 5 players per team on the field. All players are considered eligible to receive a pass. A minimum of 4 players must take the field to avoid forfeiture of the game. A maximum of 15 players may be on the roster.
Equipment The Ball: The Regular official size ball Wilson’s “The Duke” will be used in the DFFL
Flags: All teams must use the Triple Threat (three flags) style. Game flags will be provided by the DFFL.
Shoes: Rubber cleats may be worn but no metal spikes or screw-ins are permitted
.Uniforms: All jerseys must be of matching color and tucked in at all times. (DFFL will ALWAYS provide game uniforms. Players will receive an official team uniform after drafted. Uniforms consist of 2 game shirts dark and light. 1 game shorts. Players MUST wear team uniforms to play in the game. Home team is responsible for jersey change if a color conflict occurs. All Players are encourage to bring both shirts to all games.
Scoring: a. Touchdowns are worth 6 pointsb. Extra Points. After a touchdown is scored, a team may earn 1 extra point by successfully running or passing into the end zone from 5 yards out. After a touchdown is scored, a team may earn 2 extra points by successfully running or passing into the end zone from 10 yards out. Safeties are worth 2 points. Mercy Rule: There is no mercy rule. Teams must run out the clock.
Blocking: Contact Blocking will be permitted as long as all blocks take place from the front between the SHOULDERS and the WAIST. - The receiver may be bumped only 1 time within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage fromthe front between the SHOULDERS and WAIST.
Game Time Management Both teams need to be ready to play 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time in case of prior forfeits or mercy rules. This may assist in keeping later games on schedule by compensating for any delays in other games. I.
Coin Toss: Coin Toss shall begin each game. The Captain winning the coin toss may elect: 1. Offense 2. Defense 3. Which goal to defend 4. Defer choice to second half The Captain losing the coin toss may then elect from the remaining options. At the start of the second half, the choice of options shall be reversed
Possession: The Offense takes possession of the ball on their own 15 yard line and has (4) plays to cross mid-field. Crossing mid-field gives the offense (4) more plays to cross the opponents 15 yard line for a new set of 4 downs. To start a play, the ball must be snapped through the legs and not tossed off to the side. Direct snaps to a player other than the quarterback are legal.
Ball in Play: . The ball is considered dead when. A snap to the quarterback hits the ground. A fumble hits the ground (NO fumble recoveries allowed.) A Ball Carrier steps out of bounds or touches the wall with any body part A Ball Carrier’s flags are legally removed. (If the ball carrier’s flags accidentally fall off, play shall revert to TOUCH anywhere.
Play Clock: Each team shall have 30 seconds from the end of the last play to snap the ball
Game Length: Regular League Games will consist of two (2) 20-minute halves. Each team is allotted 3 time outs per half. There is no other stoppage of play except for injury. The last min. of each half will have the cock will stop for 1st downs, out of bounds, and incomplete passes
No Flag Guarding rule: players can do everything they can to stop the oposting team from grabing your flags. Including blocking your flags, stiff arm’s, etc.
Running Plays: The Quarterback may run the ball at ANY TIME . Legal Laterals and Pitches are permitted ANYWHERE on the field . The player who receives the hand off can throw the ball as long as he does not cross the line of scrimmage. The player who receives a handoff or lateral may always run with the ball
Passing Plays: . Backward Passes – Laterals and shovel passes are allowed . Only One forward pass per down . Any player passing the line of scrimmage may Not then return to the original side of the line of scrimmage to attempt a pass. That would be ruled an illegal pass . The Quarterback has an unlimited amount of time to throw the ball determined by the pressure of the defense. . Interceptions may be returned. (Intercepting an extra point(s) attempt and returning it the opposite end zone with result in points for the returning team equal to the number of points determined by the attempting team. Ex. Returning a 2-point conversion attempt would result in 2 points for the returning team.)
Receiving: . All Players are ELIGIBLE . A player must have at least one foot in bounds for a legal catch . A passed ball MAY be caught or intercepted after hitting the wall or netting in the END ZONE ONLY. Any ball hitting the walls or netting on the sidelines will be ruled dead, and thus incomplete.
Rushing the Quarterback: Any number of players may rush the quarterback from the line of scrimmage. Rushers must go for the quarterback’s flags and are NOT allowed to make any contact. You must go for the flag and not any particular part of the quarterback’s body (arms, knees, etc).
Rules and Penalty Enforcement I.
Offensive Penalties Basic yardage penalty. Holding 10 yards repeat the downOffensive pass interference 10 repeat the downBlock in the back 15 yards repeat the downPreansol foul 15 yards. Illegal Motion - More than 1 person moving at the snap, false start, illegal snap Illegal forward pass - pass thrown from beyond the line of scrimmage or a second forward pass on the same play Offensive Pass Interference - Illegal Pick Play or illegal hand contact with the defenderd. Flag Guarding – There is no flag guarding rulese. Delay of Game - Not snapping the ball within the allotted time The clock will not start until the next legal snap. Illegal Contact (holding, contact to the head, overly aggressive behavior). Illegal Formation -The offense must have at least 2 players on the line of scrimmage.
Defensive Penalties . Offsides / Encroachment 5 yards . Defensive Pass Interference spot foul automatic 1st down . Illegal Contact - contact to the head, overly aggressive behavior. Illegal Flag Pull - Pulling a runner’s flag before he has the ball Games can NOT end on a defensive penalty unless declined by the offense. . FLAGRANT FOULS (Any Flagrant foul contact whatsoever) Tackling, elbows, cheap shots, illegal contact, taunting, or similar unsportsmanlike conduct shall not be tolerated. The official may stop the game, eject the player, administer a 15 Yard penalty and an automatic first down. The game may also be stopped after excessive inappropriate behavior with the offending team receiving the forfeit loss.

The DFFL is looking to fill the openings of all the team captains. Each team will have an over all team captain. The Team Captain will be in charge of running the team, drafting players and holding practices. Also every team captain is required to referee one game a week. 2 team captains from other teams will referee each game. This way there is no referee fees and will keep cost for membership down.

(There will only be 8 team captains. 4 in each conference. Each team captain may choose only one player to be assisted caption and not be drafted. All other players MUST inter the DFFL DRAFT. All players that attend combine will be drafted.)
