Ski Jackets and Race Equipment!
We have had many requests for team jackets. Used jackets are being sold for $75. Clean out your closets and make a few $$. You can "Post" your jacket(s) or a request for a second hand jacket on our Message Boards link, along with specific race equipment for sale or "wanted to buy". Please remember to post your contact information, so sellers and buyers can communicate.
USSA Member Information-Very Important!
If you were on the team last year you should have received your USSA bill. Insurance requires that all members of the team be members of USSA. If you are a new member you must join USSA. You can obtain registration forms at www.ussa.org.
Volunteers
DCWST is a non-profit organization and all administrative work is currently done by volunteers. (this helps keep the costs down considerably) We are requesting that all families commit to giving back to the team at some point during the season and will be requesting volunteers at different times during the winter. Anyone interested in attending our regular meetings or getting more involved please contact Tonya 301-616-4756 or C.Kellyann 301-501-4122.
Practice Times
Regular practice times will be Saturday & Sunday from 8AM 10:30AM There will also be one midweek practice alternating Tues. / Thurs. through January and February. No practices on race days listed on Calendar
Snowboard/Freestyle Information
SNOWBOARD / FREESTYLE PROGRAM The Wisp will be hosting a USASA event the weekend of February 3rd & 4th. This will be a great opportunity for snowboarders who are interested in qualifying for the USASA national event. Other regional USASA events will be posted at a later date. Josh Spiker will be back to offer his freestyle camp (dates to be announced). Wisp will be hosting other events including half-pipe competitions and bordercross events. Any parents with kids that are interested in this aspect of the team are encouraged to get involved. We would love to see this part of the program grow. Contact Liz Morin at emorin@garrettcountainer.com for more information.
USSA/Traveling Ski Team
The opportunity to travel to Seven Springs and participate in their USSA (GS and slalom) ski races will be an option for those who are interested. The traveling team will require a higher degree of commitment and expense to the family and athlete interested in this level of racing. Racing at the USSA level will bring a much higher level of competition. If you are interested in more information regarding this aspect of the team please email C.Kellyann Green.
NASTAR
The Wisp has agreed to take this program over! Yeah for Wisp!! The plan is to run NASTAR regularly 2-3 times a week. This will be a great opportunity for team members to have more practice in the gates. More information to come on this soon!

Team Assessment Weekend December 9th & 10th!
Assessment weekend is scheduled for 12/9-10. We will meet everyone in the main lodge @ WISP (look for the red jackets). Members will be randomly separated into groups and will ski/board with an assigned coach. Parents can pick up fleece/sweatshirt orders, or hand in paperwork if needed, after the kids head for the snow. Any members who have jackets to sell please bring with you.
Friday, December 8
Attention Snowboarders and Snowboarders' Parents!
Snowboard team members and parents,
Yeah! We finally have snow.
Grouping for our assesment weekend will be as follows:
X group [coaches Josh and Mandy] = 13 years old and up. If you will be 13 by Dec. 31, 2006 you will be in this group.
Y group [coaches Ryan and Toni] = 8 to 11 years old.
Z group [coaches Max and Drew] = 12 years old.
I believe our program will qualify several team members to compete at the national level. This is the goal that our coaches are striving to achieve this year.
If you are interested in travelling to competitions in our region and/or nationals let me know.
All team riders should plan on competing in Wisp's USASA series in Febuary. Race categories include gate racing, boardercross, halfpipe, slopestyle [jumps and rails]. Every team member should decide which area they want to focus on this season as soon as possible and let me know directly.
