Jamboree at Lake Cormorant
The 2012 Lady Jaguars squad starts the season at the Lake Cormorant Jomboree. The Lady Jags will play at 11:00 am vs St Benedict and at 2:00pm vs Cleveland. Come out and support the Lady Jaguars when they BOARD THE SHIP for 2012.

Tuesday, February 28
vs Lewisburg

The Lady Jaguars dropped the season opener to Lewisburg 8-1. Lewisburg came ready to play and out hit the Lady Jaguars. Alissa Rice had 2 hits while Katelyn Westbrook and Hannah Melendrez each had 1. Tough way to start the 2012 season but the Lady Jags will survive.



Tuesday, February 28
at Lewisburg
The Lady Jags went to Lewisburg to play the 2nd game. The Lady Patriots scored 4 runs early and held off the Lady Jags for the 8-1 win.  Hitting was much improved but the key hit just never came along. Paige McKinney, Blake Ballard, Hannah Melendrez each had 2 hits to lead the offense.

Tuesday, February 28
at Center Hill
The DC Lady Jags traveled to CH looking for the 1st win of the season. They proved that playing together would get the results they wanted. Exploding for 20 runs to earn the 1st win was much needed. Ballard, Melendrez and Drennan Nemnich each had 2 hits and 3 rbi's. Getting on the right track before the trip to Jackson was just what the Coach had ordered.

Road trip to Jackson MS

The Lady Jags will leave DeSoto County on Friday for 4 terrific games. First stop at Brandon on Friday night. Then on Saturday the Lady Jags will battle New Hope, Petal and North Pike.

The Lady Jaguars got off the bus focused and ready to play Brandon. The Jags exploded for 12 runs on 13 hits. Kaitlin Moore led the offense going 3-4 and breaking the DC record for triples in a career. Lydia Dias was the master in the circle and held the Bulldogs to 1 run on 3 hits. The defense was playing well and looked played error free ball.  

The rain altered the schedule for the Lady Jags. The main event was rained out and revamped. The Lady Jags got to play NWR and South Panola at Clinton High.  First game vs NWR the Lady Jaguars beat the Cougars down by the score of 9-1. Led by Hannah Melendrez, 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 home runs and 5 rbis. Lydia Dias and Drennan Nemnich combined to hold NWR to 1 run on 2 hits. 

South Panola was on hand for the second game. The Lady Jaguars could not get the bats going in the 4-1 loss. But the silver lining is that SP will be at our House on Tuesday.

The Lady Tigers came calling on Tuesday. The Lady Jaguars were ready for a battle. The girls in purple played hard but came up short in the 2-0 loss. Paige Mckinney led the offense with 2 hits and Lydia Dias held SP to 2 runs on 4 hits.  More battles with SP down the road.

Thursday, March 8
vs Horn Lake

The Lady Jags extended the winning streak vs HL to 5 games. Lydia Dias pitched a terrific game from the circle holding them to hit hits and only 3 base runners. Paige McKinney, Drennan Nemnich and Kaitlin Moore each had multi hits in the game. Kaitlin added to her career home run by smashing a liner to right.

Monday, March 26
vs Madison Central
The Lady Jags from Madison Central made the trip north to face the Desoto Central Jags. Always a great game when these two teams take the field. The DC Lady Jags scored 1 in the first on a Drennan Nemnich double. Lydia Dias got the win in the circle by holding the MC Jags to 1 run. Freshman Chelsea Lamping hits a double to and earns an RBI to extend the lead to 3-1. Great game from both squads.

Monday, March 26
@ Olive Branch

The Desoto Central Lady Jags extended the streak to 15 by beating OB 10-0.  Paige McKinney, Kaitlin Moore and Emilee Grem led the offense with multi hit games. Lydia Dias held OB to 3 hits while striking out 7.

The Lady Jaguars found some offense in the 3rd inn and scored 11 runs to beat the Lady Eagles 13-1.  Drennan Nemnich hits her first Lady Jaguar homer and Kaitlin Moore added to her Lady Jag career home runs by hitting a homer. Paige McKinney, Kory Watterson and Kayla Andrada each had 2 hits to led the attack. Lydia Dias was game on as she picked up the win.

Wednesday, March 28
vs Hernando
The battle of the big cats was as expected. Hernando is always a tough win. Hernando started out strong and scored 3 in the top of the first. The Lady Jags battled back to post 2 in the 2nd. Hernando added 3 more in the 5 to extend the lead to 6-2. The Lady Jags got hot in the 6th. Alissa Rice lead off with a BB, Paige Mckinney singled and Blake Ballard sac bunted. With runners at 2nd and 3rd Kaitlin Moore drew a walk to load them for Drennan Nemnich. Nemnich came thru with a 2 rbi single. The score now was 6-6 after 6. The 7th inning was what some players play for, McKinney hits a single and Ballard moved her to 3rd. With two outs and the winning run at 2nd Moore steps up to the plate. She hits the first pitch to the LC fence to score the winning run.

Friday, March 30
@ 2012 Morris Hunter Tournament

The Lady Jaguars continue to pound out wins.  They started out vs #1 Dandy Dozen Covington. Lydia Dias was in control from the cirlce and Drennan Nemnich (2-2 2 rbis) continued to swing the hot bat.          DC 2 Covington 1

 The Lady Jaguars then faced the Canes from Jonesboro. The girls pounded out 12 hits and posted 12 runs to beat J'boro 12-4.

Potts Camp withdrew from the event so Coach Jones got Covington to agree to another game. The Lady Jags responded with yet another stellar performance. Dias remained in control and Kaitlin Moore and Hannan Melendrez provided the offense to earn another victory    DC 3   Covington 1.

Last up for the Lady Jaguars were the Tigers from Arlington.  Kaitlin Moore got her second start in the circle and got the W. The bats remained hot as they scored 7 runs on 12 hits. Paige McKinney, Nemnich, Chelsea Lamping and Katelyn Westbrook each had 2 hits.

@ Lake Cormorant
The Desoto Central Lady Jaguars beat LC 9-0. Led by Kaitlin Moore (2-3) Kory Watterson (2-4 4 rbi) and Chelsea Lamping (2-4). Lydia Dias controlled the Gators from the cirlce allowing 3 hits and 0 runs.

Thursday, April 5
vs Southaven

The battle between Desoto Central and soouthaven continues tonight.  The Lady Jags chargers both scored 2 in the 1st inning.  The Lady Jags setteled down and held them while the posted 2 more runs to take a 4-2 lead. southaven then rallied for 7 runs in the   4th to tak the lead 9-4. The Lady Jaguars were not fazed--They pounded out 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th to tie the score. southaven would take a 10-9 lead in the sixth. The Lady Jags still had the last at bat. Paige Mckinney hits a double, Katelyn Westbrook walks and Kaitlin Moore hits into a FC moving McKinney to 3rd, Drennan Nemnich continues to swing a hot bat and hits a single to center to score the winning run  11-10 WIN.

 



Wednesday, April 11
vs Olive Branch
The Lady Jaguars extended the winning streak to 16 vs Olive Branch with the 10-1 win. Paige Mckinney, Kaitlin Moore and Kory Watterson led the offense by going a combined 7-11. Lydia Dias continued to keep OB off balance and held them to only 3 hits.

Friday, April 13
@ Hernando
The short trip south to Hernando was worth the bus ride. The Lady Jaguars scored 8 runs on 10 hits, led by Hannah Melendrez (3-4) and Drennan Nemnich (2-4). With Lydia Dias in the circle she held Hernando to 2 hits while in control the entire game. 

Friday, April 13
@ South Panola

The Lady Jaguars extended the winning streak to 15 with a 4-2 win at South Panola.  Kaitlin Moore took the mound for her 2nd start in the cirlce and pitched a great game. SHe held SP to 1 hit and struck out 7.  The Lady Tigers took an early lead 2-0 thru the 4th. The Lady Jaguars would battle back and tie the score at 2 in the 5th. The 7th inning proved what the Lady Jaguars were all about this season. Taking charge and posting 2 runs to take the lead 4-2. The defense then stood tall and held SP to earn the win. Paige McKinney and AnnaClaire Sims led the offense for the Jaguars.

 



Monday, April 16
@ Southaven
DIVISION  1 6A CHAMPS  Desoto Central beats Southaven 5-0 to finish division play 6-0 to win the Div Championship.   Hannah Melendrez and Chelsea Lamping were the offensive leaders for the game going 4-7 2 rbis.  Lydia Dias held southaven to 3 hits and only 6 base runners in the shutout win.  Now on to the Playoffs playing as a team. CONGRATS

Senior Night vs Lake Cormorant
The Lady Jaguars played LC to another great battle. Taking the 3-2 win on Kaitlin Moore, Katelyn Westbrook and Kory Watterson Senior night. Chelsea Lamping was the offensive hero for the Jags going 2-2. Paige McKinney, Kaitlin Moore and Hannah Melendrez each had 1 hit. Lydia Dias was in contro to pick up her 15th win of the season. Congrats and good luck to our 3 K's.

Monday, April 30
1st Round State Playoffs

The Lady Jags are to play the Golden Wave of Tupelo in the 1st rd.

Game 1--The Lady Jags traveled to Tupelo to start things off. And they did, beating Tupelo 14-0 behind Lydia Dias great performance in the circle. She held the Wave to only 2 hits while striking out 6. Paige McKinney went 4-5, Kory Watterson went 2-3 with 4 rbis and Hannah Melendrez added 3-4.

 

Game 2--The LAdy Jags were at home for this game. Katlin Moore got the start and win from the circle. The offense was lead by Katelyn Westbrook, McKinneyy, Watterson and Melendrez in this game as well as they combined for going 11-16.



Monday, April 30
2nd Round State Playoffs

The Lady Jaguars of Desoto Central will face the Lady Jaguars of Madison Central in round 2. 

Game 1--At DC.  The DC Lady Jags battled the defended 6A Champs until the end of the game.  Falling behind 3-0 early the Lady Jags (DC) tied thing up when Kory Watterson exploded on a rise ball to clear the bases with a home run in the bottom of the 6th. The Lady Jags(MC) would answer with 2 runs and hold the DC Jags to take game 1.

 

Game 2--at MC. The DC Lady Jags loaded the bus early to get down to Madison and take on the MC Lady Jags. They were pumped and prepared to battle. Game plan in hand DC tied the score at 1 after 2. The MC Jags then added 5 while the DC Jags were kept scoreless. MS took the series but not the fight in the DC Lady Jags. They knew they had to compete with DC to earn this series.
