CHSIHL Recognizes Douglas County School District and our own DCHS Inline Hockey Club

Taken from announcement from CHSIHL January 28, 2008

THERE IS A PLACE FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL INLINE HOCKEY ATHLETE
Douglas County School District Honors Its Inline Hockey Players. The Douglas County School District recognizes the importance toward
acknowledging the youth inline hockey community through their proactive
involvement of their inline hockey club programs. For several years now,
the DCSD and the Board of Education have provided firm support of their
district inline hockey student athletes.

Since the inception of the Colorado High School Inline League in 2001,
the Douglas County District community has helped us grow programs at
Ponderosa, Chaparral, Douglas County, Mountain Vista, Highlands Ranch,
Thunder Ridge, and  newly entered Rock Canyon high schools.

Last August, the Douglas County School District acknowledged the
League’s State Champions, Douglas County High School Inline Hockey Team
with an award ceremony unprecedented for any high school inline hockey program. The ceremony honored the inline hockey team, with a special award to honor one of our League's stars, Matt Olsen.

Matt is one the League’s pioneers, and has represented himself as the
example of class, and uncompromising sportsmanship. He has made
tremendous strides toward reaching the pinnacle of accomplishments by helping lead his team to one of the hardest inline hockey team achievements…High School Inline Hockey's State Championship and winners of Colorado's Varsity Spirit Cup.

The ceremony was attended by the Douglas County Inline Hockey team, its
coaches and families. In attendance was the Board of Education
President, Timothy White, and Superintendent of Schools, Jim Christensen.
“Teamwork is an important skill that will be put to the test in all
aspects of life.” says Colorado's Board of Education President, Timothy
White.

The Douglas County School District schools are among the largest
participants in the CHSIHL. With as many as five teams from the Mountain
Vista inline hockey program and multiple teams from the other DCSD inline hockey
participants. A clear example where school administrators can
help put scholastic inline hockey at the forefront of high school sports,
while providing continuing opportunities for our student athletes.

Congratulations to Matt Olsen, the Douglas County Inline Hockey Program, and all the other Douglas County District schools for their
unyielding support and encouragement toward the growth of youth inline hockey in Colorado.
