DC Explosion Take First Loss of the Season
News - First Loss

The DC Explosion went out on the road this week to South Jersey to play the South Jersey Lynx.  The game was hard fought, but the final score was 14 - 6.  The Explosion had to head back to DC having taken their first loss of the season.

Kyle Washington kept his streak alive scoring his second touchdown in two games.  Larry Graham is got a little closer to having 100 yards on the season.  The Explosion offense was disappointed with its performance throwing 2 interceptions and missing out on 2 redzone opportunities.  The quarterback battle has not been settled, now there are three QBs in the mix.

The Explosion defense held its own once again holding the Lynx to less then 150 yards of total offense.  Roland Minor pulled in a big interception late in the 3rd quarter to stop a Lynx drive.  Darnell Dorsey made a big goalline tackle that stopped a Lynx drive early in the fourth quarter.

The Explosion must regroup and prepare for the Virginia Beach Hurricanes this Saturday, come and check them out!

DC Explosion defeat Central Virginia Warriors 14-0 in 2009 Season Opener
Season Opener

In front of a big crowd in the season opener #3 Darnell "DeeBeast" Dorsey started the game by returning the opening kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown.  The Explosion special teams and Defense got off to a quick start holding the Warriors offense to less then 100 yards of total offense.  The Explosion defensive line had numerous sacks and hurried the Warriors Quarterbacks just about every other play.  #7 Corey Massenburg pulled in an early 4th quarter interception on one of the Warriors desperate attempts to go deep.

Offensive Coordinator Pat Cole's Explosion offense ran the ball fairly well gaining close to 100 yards on the ground for the day.  #4 Kyle Washington was able to punch one in for a 16 yard touchdown run early in the second half.

Coach Charles McGriff wasn't completely happy with the win, he explained to his Explosion team that he expects more from his vets and that there was no reason to let up on any team at all during the season.
