  1.           What is Delray Beach Soccer Club Competitive Soccer?

Þ      We are a competitive youth soccer program that is part of the Delray Beach Soccer Club.  Delray Beach Competitive Soccer is devoted to fostering and providing a healthy and stimulating environment whereby youth soccer players will be challenged and realize their full potential.  Delray Beach Soccer Club is a member of USYSA, FYSA, and US Club Soccer.

  2.           What is Delray Beach Soccer Club’s Competitive Program all about?

Þ      The Philosophy of the Delray Beach Soccer Club is to encourage and stimulate the interest of youth in competitive soccer.  The Club shall provide supervised activities and encourage youth participation in a soccer program of excellence.  The program is designed to teach good sportsmanship and physical fitness by means of training and playing within a team.  Further, it shall aid in the development of physical and mental well-being of the children in the community.

Þ      The Competitive Teams of Delray Beach Soccer Club will be made up of players who are seriously interested in quality soccer training at its finest and are totally committed and willing to invest time and hard work to improve their skills.  Players will be selected on ABILITY, DESIRE, ATTITUDE and FITNESS.Þ      Every player on each team’s roster is equally important.  The Delray Beach Soccer Club is committed to excellence and dedicated to “Total Player” development.  Our image will display skillful and attractive soccer.

Þ      The goal of the Delray Beach Soccer Club is to provide a competitive soccer program through local, state, regional and national competition.  The club will attempt to prepare it’s players for qualification on state, regional, and national teams as well as for scholarships in college soccer programs.

3.        What are the goals of the Competitive Program of the Delray Beach Soccer Club?

Þ      Help each player achieve the highest level of soccer ability he or she is capable of and provide an opportunity to learn about his/her physical and mental capabilities

Þ      Provide a wholesome atmosphere in which each player can learn the skills and techniques of competitive soccer and good sportsmanship.

Þ      Create a championship environment that provides all players with the means to reach their individual goals.

Þ      Have every team be a legitimate contender in every game it plays.

Þ      Attaining excellence is the aim of Delray Beach Competitive Soccer.

4.        How much traveling is required

Þ      The competitive teams of the Delray Beach Soccer Club play in leagues where opponents can be as south as Miami and as north as Port St Lucie, although the leagues attempt to set up schedules so as to limit the travel as much as possible.  Most teams work together to carpool to limit the travel.

5.        How many times will my child’s team train?

Þ      Each team will have the opportunity for three training sessions per week.  The U9/U10 teams may elect to limit their training to only two training sessions weekly.  This will be decided by the respective team along with input from the team’s head Coach, and the Director and Assistant Director of Coaching.

6.        How is my child coached and trained?

Þ      All of the teams that train 3 times a week will have an opportunity to train with the Trainers of Supreme Soccer twice a week and the teams that train twice a week will have an opportunity to train with them once a week.    

Þ      Each team will have a designated coach who will coach the team in games and oversee a training session once a week.  The team coach will continue on what the players are being taught in the training sessions with the Supreme Soccer Trainers, but also add more team concepts and game tactics.  

7.        Where do the teams play and train?

Þ      The Competitive Teams of Delray Beach Soccer Club will train and play at Seacrest Soccer Complex (Old Atlantic High School) in Delray, although sometimes Miller Park in Delray and Caloosa Park in Boynton are used as well.  Currently, the construction on the new soccer facility at Seacrest Soccer Complex is scheduled to be completed in August of 2008. When completed the facility will have space for three full side fields and the existing stadium, among other amenities such as new bathrooms, new concession stand, storage and meeting space, etc.

8.        Will there be goalkeeper training?

Þ      Yes.  The club will provide specialized, weekly goalkeeper training for all of the club’s goalkeepers.  Each team will be required to have their goalkeepers attend these special once-a-week sessions.  The Delray Beach Soccer Club will offer the highest-level goalkeeper training possible for this unique and extremely important position. 

9.        What are the fees to join and play in the club each year?

Þ      The club fee is $1,200.00 ($800 for the teams that train only twice a week) for the year and the program runs for 10 months from August – May.  This fee will be made up of the $400 club fee to cover the cost for the uniforms, state registration, league and referee fees, one tournament, etc, with the balance being the fee for training.  All Competitive Teams of the Delray Beach Soccer Club will begin training the week of August 18th.  The club will tolerate players missing training during the summer months due to family vacations and summer camps etc.  However, mandatory training sessions will begin September 1st for all teams. 

10.     Can I pay that over time?

Þ      For those unable to pay the full amount, the following payment option is available: $400 at time of tryouts followed by payments of $200 to be paid by post dated checks (collected at tryouts) dated August 1st, September 1st, October 1st and November 1st for the players whose teams train 3 times a week and $400 at time of registration followed by payments of 200 to be paid by post dated checks (collected at tryouts) dated August 1st, September 1st, October 1st and November 1st for the players whose teams train 2 times a week.

11.     Does the Club offer financial assistance?

Þ      The Delray Beach Soccer Club will work with families to help them obtain player sponsorships to cover the cost of player fees.  No player will be turned away for purely financial reasons. Players looking for financial assistance should contact the treasurer of the competitive program.

12.     Who is Supreme Soccer?

Þ      The Delray Beach Soccer Club has contracted with Supreme Soccer.  Supreme Soccer is a private soccer training company led by the finest technical trainers around.

Þ      On such trainer is Ian Bishop.  Ian, a distinguished professional footballer (soccer player) for 23 years, made over 700 appearances in the English Leagues for teams including West Ham, Everton and Manchester City where he was a cult hero.  After ending his career in England, Ian played in the MLS for the Miami Fusion, making the All-star Team in the MLS prior to the disbanding of the team. Ian will serve as the Assistant Director of Coaching and Player Development, with a primary responsibility to oversee the Boys’ Program.  Ian will be directly involved with the training of the boys’ teams as well as guiding the boys’ coaching staff.  Having played with and against the best players in the World, Ian brings a vast wealth of knowledge, experience and passion to the game which he hopes to instill in the players he trains in Delray Beach!   For more information regarding the
