Crude Dudes: Crude Dudes History
Crude Dudes Win Again !!!!!
Big game at the Blackfalds barn on Sunday night as the Crude Dudes hosted the ever dangerous Wild Ones. In the first period the game was very close checking and stayed scoreless for quite some time until Lloyd Hallam made one of his famous rushes up the ice deking and spinning around guys and then firing the puck on net. The goalie made a huge glove save but couldnt control the rebound as it shot out into the crease area where Jeremy Nichols was waiting to snipe it home short side to put the Dudes up by 1. Next to score for the Dudes was Landon Nahorney AKA "The Hobbema Dingo" with an Ovechkin like shot from the side of the net which went top corner like a bolt of lightning putting the Dudes up 2-0. What about Bob you might ask ??? Well he was next to score as the Dudes gained the zone and put on a passing clinic that was finished off with a booming howitzer from the point by Bobby"Boom-Boom" Gladstone, that went blazing through the 5-Hole of the cat like tender extending the Dudes lead by 3. Being down by 3 goals, the Wild Ones started turning up the heat, peppering the Dudes net with shots, but goaltender Darcy Ramstead was a brickwall and stopped each and every attack including a penalty shot with ease. The start of the second half of the game saw the Dudes back on their heals as the Wild Ones came out in a fury scoring 2 quick goals, one of which was banked in off defenseman Phil"No Show"Stork. Feeling the pressure of their opponents closing in, the Dudes started to give each other pep talks on the bench and that seemed to light a fire under them. One player in particular, Rob Dube, took the bull by the horns, flying off the bench and attacking the opposing Dman
infront of their own net with the tenacity of a cornered honey badger, stripping the Dman of the puck and potting one in the back of the net once again giving the Dudes a 2 goal lead. Then the game took a ugly turn when Dudes Dman Phil"No SHow"Stork and a Wild Ones forward battled hard infront of goaltender Darcy Ramstead. As Stork tried to
skate away and get back into the play that was already on the way up the ice, he took a sucker punch in the face from behind from the Wild Ones player(#6)that dropped the unsuspecting Stork to the ice. The fans were enraged, especially a small easterner woman with a very loud voice, encouraging Stork to drop the mitts with the offender. Being the bigger man and still dazed from the blow Stork once again skated away and the ref ejected the offending player out of the game to make sure no other drama continued. The engergized Dudes continued to skate hard and take it to the Wild Ones, new Dude Brandon Berwick broke out of the zone doing an end to end rush splitting the Wilds Dmen and drawing a tripping penalty for his efforts. Taking the advice of fellow teammate and mentor Dwayne"Big Diesel"Larson, Berwick shot a rocket over the glove hand of the Wilds goaltender to extend the Dudes
lead even further to 3. Once again the undiscouraged Wild Ones battled back hard and scored a highlite reel tic-tac-toe goal on Ramstead who was left out to dry and had no chance on the play cutting the Dudes lead to 2 with only 8 minutes left in the game. The Dudes true black and yellow spirit came through as they continued to move the puck
around well and back check hard. The Dudes had one more goal in them and it came from a true "Blue Collar" player, Gary Ramsey. Taking a pass at the Dudes blue line, Ramsey jetted up the ice with the speed of a Pavel Bure of old, and with a Wild Ones Dman all over him slashing and hooking him, Ramsey deked out the opposing goaltender and put the puck home. This game had all the excitement of a game 7 playoff game and left the hometown fans wanting more. Next game for the Crude Dudes is Wednesday January 30th @ 8:30PM against the Dixon Rye Kings.
