The Tradition Continues
In 1967, Sam and Betty Dunlap founded the "Crete Bulldogs" in memory of their son Rick. Rick had recently died from injuries suffered in a car accident. Because of the Dunlap's fondness for athletics and Sam and Betty's unselfish community spirit, the Crete Bulldogs were formed. The Bulldogs name was chosen because of Sam's involvement with the United States Marines. The colors orange and blue were chosen because of Sam's college years where he played football for Syracuse. Since 1985, Pat Dunlap has actively participated in the program and continues to this day.
The initials SAD & ESD have been placed on all bulldog jerseys in memory of Sam and Betty Dunlap. These initials will continue on the bulldog jerseys for the life of the program. When you see these initials think of Sam and Betty Dunlap and Remember what this program is all about........
