The Scrappers got off to a great start in the Minors Playoff Tournament on Tuesday night in the late game at the Wampler.  The game score was Scrappers 13, Sea Dogs 6. 

The game was a bit more exciting than the score suggests.  The Scrappers got an early start to the game with 4 runs in the first, and another run the second.  After 2 innings, the score stood --> Scrappers 5, Sea Dogs 1.  But...the Sea Dogs made things interesting in the Third, scoring 4 runs at the top of the inning, tying the game 5 - 5.  The Scrappers came right back scoring 4 runs themselves in the bottom of the inning.  After that, the Scrappers never looked back, tacking on another 4 runs in the fourth.

Highlights of the game include:

• The Scrapper bats were on fire.  Batting average for the team == .611, OBP == .741, Slugging Percentage == .833.
• 7 players combined for a total of  11 hits, including:
  • 2 doubles (Hunter and Logan)
  • 1 triple (Jake)
  • Way to go driving up the slugging percentage!!!
• 7 out of 13 players got on base every time they came to the plate.
• 10 out of 13 players scored at least a run.
  • Sean, Hunter, and Logan scored twice...which means they end up reaching home every time they came to the plate.
• On defense...the Scrappers turned in two double plays!!  Both times...the double plays shut down innings which could have been big for the Sea Dogs.  Way to go Doug!!  Way to go Sean!!

Next up is the RiverCats on Saturday.  This is a big game.  We managed to beat them twice in the regular season.  The last time it took extra inning...in maybe the most exciting Scrapper game of the year.  Through the rest of the tournament...all the games will be competitive!  This is where the fun really starts!!
