Cookeville High School Girls Lacrosse Club

The Cookeville High School Girls Lacrosse Team was formed in 2006 and played its first season in 2007.  The team was formed to provide its members the opportunity to learn the value of sportsmanship, teamwork, determination, commitment, and leadership while playing the sport of lacrosse.  In 2007, the team traveled to Nashville, Chattanooga, and Knoxville and played some of the toughest teams in the state.

The Cookeville Middle School Girls Lacrosse Team played its first season in the spring of 2006.  In 2007, the girls finished with a record of 12 wins against 3 losses against some of the most successful middle school teams in the state.

Lacrosse has a history that spans centuries and is the oldest sport native to the North American continent. Rooted in Native American religion, lacrosse was often played to resolve conflicts, heal the sick, build strength and virility, and give thanks to the Creator. Many Native Americans still refer to lacrosse as "The Creator's Game." The first women's lacrosse game was played in 1890 at the St. Leonard's School in Scotland. The first women's team in the United States was established at The Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore, Maryland.

PLEASE READ!.....Very Important news about Thursdays (3/12) game

Girl’s Thursday’s game with Sequatchie county has been cancelled. Sequatchie only has 11 girls due to illness and some of the parent’s don’t want to travel due to the incoming weather conditions. We will also not practice due to temp/weather. Now since we are being so nice before spring break to everyone If you are in town we expect you to be at practice Tuesday and Thursday the next 2 weeks so we don’t get to rusty. Everyone enjoy your break and we will see you on Tuesday next week. Thanks Coach Dave
