Cookeville Girl's Lacrosse Club: Welcome

Cookeville High School Girls Lacrosse Club

Welcome to the Cookeville, Tennessee High School Girls Lacrosse Lady Cavaliers Website!!

Our first season was in 2007.  In 2010, the Lady Cavaliers placed second in the Tennessee East Region and fielded five Academic All-Americans.

The team was formed to provide its members the opportunity to learn the value of sportsmanship, teamwork, determination, commitment, and leadership while playing the sport of lacrosse.

Lacrosse has a history that spans centuries and is the oldest sport native to the North American continent. Rooted in Native American religion, lacrosse was often played to resolve conflicts, heal the sick, build strength and virility, and give thanks to the Creator. Many Native Americans still refer to lacrosse as "The Creator's Game." The first women's lacrosse game was played in 1890 at the St. Leonard's School in Scotland. The first women's team in the United States was established at The Bryn Mawr School in Baltimore, Maryland.
