Continental Baseball: My Default Season Divisions

Seniors
Ages 13-15

Juniors
This division is for 13-14 year olds who want to take the next step and learn to play on a full size field. Practices begin in February. Most teams practice two times weekly. Games begin in March. Teams play 2 games weekly and the season ends in early June. This division inter-leagues with Clayton Valley Little League, Concord American Little League and Pittsburg National Little League in order to create a competitive, traveling environment.
The championship team from this division will go on to play in the tournament of champions at the end of June.
The coaches choose the 13-14 All Star team from this division. This is a competitive tournament team that plays the first two weeks of July.


Majors
A competitive division for skilled players ages 9-12. Players in this division focus on enhancing their skills through practice and games. Each player must play a minimum of 3 innings in the field. Players are selected to this division through a try-out and draft process. Practices begin in February. Most teams practice two times weekly. Games begin in March. Teams play 2 games weekly and the season ends in early June. Games are played at Ygnacio Valley Elementary School. The championship team from this division will go on to play in the tournament of champions at the end of June. 9 and 10 year olds from this division can be selected to the 9-10 All-Star Team. The All-Star games are played in the first week of July. This is a competitive tournament team and not all players will be selected for this team. Minor AAA
Ages 9-11
Advanced skill development division for ages 9-11. This division emphasizes improvement of skills learned at younger ages. This is a competitive little league division. Each player must play a minimum of 3 innings in the field. Players are selected to this division through a try-out and draft process. Practices begin in February. Most teams practice two times weekly. Games begin in March. Teams play 2 games weekly and the season ends in early June. Games are played at Ygnacio Valley Elementary School. The championship team from this division will go on to play in the tournament of champions at the end of June. 9 and 10 year olds from this division are eligible for the 9-10 All-Star Team. The Games are played in the first week of July. This is a competitive tournament team and not all players will be selected for this team.


Minor AA
Ages 9-11
This is a skill development division for player’s age 9-11 who have limited experience and need to improve on their basic skills. This is a player pitch league from 45 feet. Rules are modified to allow everyone on the team to bat continuously. Each player must play a minimum of 3 innings in the field. Players are selected to this division through a try-out and draft process. Practices begin in February. Most teams practice two times weekly.
Games begin in March. Teams play 2 games weekly and the season ends in early June.
Games are played at Ygnacio Valley Elementary School. The championship team from this division will go on to play in the tournament of champions at the end of June. 9 and 10 year olds from this division are eligible for the 9-10 All-Star Team. Minor A
Ages 7-9
This is the entry level for ages 7-9. Little or no baseball experience is required. This is an overhand coach pitch league from 40 feet. Rules are modified to allow batting through the line-up. Every effort is made to allow players to play all positions. Reduced impact balls are used as an added safety feature for the younger players. Players improve their skills in hitting, catching and throwing. Games are 6 innings long and scores and standing are kept. Practices begin in February. Most teams practice two times weekly. Games begin in March. Teams play 2 games weekly and season ends the first week of June.
Games and practices will be held at Bancroft Elementary.


Peanuts
This is an entry-level league for players ages 5-6. Players with no baseball experience are welcome. Initial practices will focus on catching, throwing and basic game rules. Players will learn different positions on the field and how to run the bases. Initially players will use a tee while batting and graduate to coach pitch.
In the games everyone plays the field and everyone hits. The teams bat through the line-up. The teams do not keep score. Everyone is winner in Peanuts.
We encourage parents to come to both practices and games to help with instruction. Practices begin in February. Most teams practice two times weekly.
Games begin in March. Teams play 2 games weekly and season ends the first week of June. Games and practices will be held at Bancroft Elementary.


Softball Minor
This is a skill development division for player’s age 9-11 who have limited experience and need to improve on their basic skills. This is an underhand player pitch league, with coach pitch after 4 balls. Rules are modified to allow everyone on the team to bat continuously. Each player must play a minimum of 3 innings in the field. Practices begin in February. Most teams practice two times weekly.
Games begin in March. Teams play 2 games weekly (one game on a weekday, and one on Saturday) and the season ends in early June.
Games are played at Ygnacio Valley High School and Clayton Community Park in Clayton.


Softball Mini-Minor
This is the entry level for ages 6-9. Little or no softball experience is required. This is an underhand coach pitch league from 40 feet. Rules are modified to allow batting through the line-up. Softball - Majors Division
