The Connecticut Chiefs U16 Tier 1 Midget Team played in the Massachusetts Tier 1 Labor Day Face Off Tournament this past weekend.
The Chiefs led the American Division with a first place 4 -1-0 record and out scored their opposition with a combined 21-10 goal differential. The Chiefs recorded victories against the New Jersey Devils, New Jersey Avalanche, Dual State Huskies and Mass Conn Braves to clinch 1st place in the American Division before losing a closely fought battle to the New Jersey Rockets. In interdivisional play the Chiefs finally succumbed in a close 6-4 battle to the eventual overall winners,Vally Jr Warriors.
The Massachusetts Tier 1 Labor Day Face Off is on of the countries premier Midget tournaments. Over a 4 day period,110 teams from around the country compete in this USA Hockey sanctioned event.
The Connecticut Chiefs are a brand new Tier 1 Midget hockey organization comprised of players from all over cental and northern Connecticut. To do so well at an elite tournament was especially rewarding to the players, parents, and coaches and other supporters.
The Connecticut Chiefs would like to thank the management and staff of South Windsor Arena and the Avon-Canton-Farmington Youth Hockey Association and their board for all their support and guidance.
Follow the Chiefs at their upcoming tournament, the Junior Bruins Shootout. This is big event for the entire New England hockey community. Hockey fans get to look at the fall and winter teams and the scouting community gets a chance to really see all the top teams on the east coast in one building over a three day period. College & Prep Scouts will check out the talent that they want to follow during the 08/09 season. The tournament is held within a 2-hour drive from approximately 21 D-I and 33 D-II & III programs. We expect most will be represented, in addition to scouts from NHL organizations and Central Scouting. Since the Shoot-Out takes place before college programs “take the ice” we also expect scouts from programs outside New England to catch the action. Teams from all over the US and Canada are being invited to this “don’t miss” event! Last year over 70 division 1 and 3 scouts were in attendance.
