RAIDERS AT RISING STARS

Friday
3:30 p.m.  Raiders v. East Norriton Heartbreakers (Central 6 )
On a sunny 85 degree day, the Raiders jumped out on top to a one nothing lead in the first and put several runners on base but did not score again and tied the Heartbreakers 1-1. The Heartbrakers scored their loan run in the fourth when a runner reached first on an error was bunted over and eventually scored. Fine defensive plays made by all.

Saturday
3:10 p.m.  Raiders v. West Pine Diamond Dusters - Leon
Hot but not as sunny, the Raiders jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first and held it until the fifth inning when the Diamond Dusters put a runner on with a walk and scored on a few errors making the score 2-1. In the Sixth, a three run homer put the Raiders back on top 4-2.
4:50 p.m. Raiders v. NJ Rangers (Central 6)

Raiders fell behind early in this one going down 1-0 in the first inning. That would be the end of the scoring for the Rangers. The Raiders bats lit up and they went on to win 4-2. Great pitching performances all day by the three pitcher rotation.

The Concord Raiders Gold U18 softball team - sporting the "Gold" moniker for the first time as the program has expanded to two U18 teams - will have a busy summer of 2009, as it is entered into nine tournaments.

The Raiders will have two big trips outside New England - at the TNT tournament in Quakertown, PA from July 2-5 and at the Cardinal Classic in Raleigh, NC from July 17-19 - in addition to seven regional tournaments.

The Concord-based team opens play in Hudson, NH the weekend of June 5-7 at "Just Play It" tournament, an ASA, four-team roundrobin.  The season begins in earnest the following weekend (June 12-14) with the Lowell ASA Tournament.  The Raiders head to the Leominster/Sterling, MA area, June 19-21, for the Gold ASA Regional tournament.  The month concludes with the annual Polar Crush NSA Showcase at Fort Devens in Ayer, June 26-28.

The Raiders will celebrate Independence Day in Quakertown, PA, where it will play in the TNT Tournament, July 2-5.  The following weekend (July 10-12), Concord makes the trek to Wallingford, Conn. for the Tradition Tournament, a PONY event.  The Raiders then wrap up their three-weekend "road" trip with a July 17-19 set of games in Raleigh, NC for the Cardinal Classic.

Concord's final two tournaments are closer to home.  The Raiders take part in the Commissioner's Cup ASA tournament in Leominster, July 30-Aug. 2.  Finally, Concord goes for the gold in the New England's Finest Showcase in Plainville, MA, Aug. 7-9.
