See you at the TORHS America or AAU event! Wednesday, November 2 TORHS, AAU, USARS Partnership November 2, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Lincoln, Nebraska MEGA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS CREATED FOR INLINE ROLLER HOCKEY THROUGH COMBINATION BY THREE MAJOR HOCKEY ORGANIZATIONS In an agreement that will produce the first significant unity within a historically fragmented sport, three principal inline hockey organizations have inked an agreement to combine their previously separate national championships into a single site. The Taylor Sportsplex, located near Detroits Metropolitan Airport will be the site for this gala inline hockey event in July of 2006. Keith Noll, National Chair of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Inline Hockey program states, Our Organization is extremely pleased to be part of the Worlds largest hockey events ever held under one roof. The four-rink Taylor Sportsplex should have over 500 teams attending the TORHS America, AAU Junior Olympic Games, the USA Roller Sports Nationals and the F.I.R.S. 2006 World Championships in Detroit, Michigan next July. More than 20 Countries from all over the world are expected. As spokesman for USA Roller Sports (USARS), the Olympic Committee recognized National Governing Body for Inline Hockey, George Pickard, Inline Hockey Committee Chairman said Our organization is very pleased to have TORHS America, a major inline hockey influence in the United States, join with AAU and USARS to produce this gala sporting event. A divided sport, with multiple National Championships has confused both public and media for more than a decade and retarded the attainment of the full potential of this popular world-wide sport. The AAU, with its emphasis on youth and grassroots sport development; TORHS, with its dominance in the elite Pro Inline Hockey team events; and USARS, with its historic five decade long promotion of puck roller hockey, coupled with its National and International sport credentials, make for ideal colleagues in this new venture. TORHS America Senior Mens Divisions will be recognized by the National Governing Body as the official USA Championships. Tony Abbate, President of TORHS America adds, The creation of this super event offers exciting opportunities for the future of the inline hockey sport. I feel the most important ingredient in the making of this agreement is trust and a commitment to the common goal of building a better inline hockey sport. Many organizations want to say they are working together but really are not. We plan to stay the course and make many of our ideas a reality for the improvement of inline hockey in America. Tuesday, August 9 World Inline Cup Announcement - Canada Inline Announce Relationship with Premier Sports Events Canada Inline Announces Relationship with Premier Sports Events August 9, 2005 Chatham, Ontario, Canada Canada Inline is pleased to announce their newly established partnership with Premier Sports Events to manage the World Inline Cup. This will allow Canada Inline to remain focused on growing grassroots programs and maintaining the technical aspect of the sport and for the event itself. Dave Easter, President of Canada Inline comments By forming a relationship with PSE, it will allow us to continue to run a first class event with the World Inline Cup and allow us to focus on the growth of the event. Essentially, Canada Inline will provide all the technical support such as rules, game formats, and maintain the ethics that this event has enjoyed for the past 7 years. Canada Inline wants to focus on providing support within Canada and other countries that are interested in expanding youth level programs. The association realizes that it is crucial for the sport and for each country involved to insure that the game will grow and avoid being a fad. By fostering and working with other countries that promote Inline Hockey at the younger age groups, this will help push the sport towards one day being an Olympic event. If we want to one day watch Inline Hockey on television in the Olympics or be fortunate enough to be involved in a program that participates, countries are going to have to show they have programs in place from early ages thru to the top athletes. The popularity and integrity of the sport will at that time help lead our game in the direction we long to see it end up. One day being in the Olympics will make all of the work countries have committed to over the past few years, worth the countless hours of volunteerism and tireless efforts that so many people involved have produced commented Easter. When Dave asked us to work with him on the World Inline Cup, we recognized the opportunity that we would have to create extremely unique experiences for players. Jeff and I have had international playing experiences that made this an easy decision for PSE as we understand the lasting effects that events like this can have on a young persons life. To have the opportunity to visit another country and on top of that play a sport we all love is such an incredible bonus. We feel fortunate to be part of insuring players, coaches and families enjoy the ultimate player experience that the World Inline Cup truly provides comments Nathan Bowen of PSE. Next year the tournament is set to be down under at the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia, an awesome tourist attraction for the country. We were extremely proud when Canada Inline and PSE awarded our country with the 2006 event as this will be the first time the tournament has been held outside of the North American Continent comments Steve Hall, President of Australia Inline Hockey Association. Canada Inline and PSE did a tremendous job facilitating our needs and insuring the event was an incredible life experience for all of our athletes. We have been attending this event for the past 7 years and our experience has been unique with each new location the tournament has been played. "We look forward to providing a World Class Tournament with outstanding accommodation, unique travel experiences and some great inline hockey here next July - see you all Down Under" Heading up the Great Britain organization is Jane Roebuck, who has enjoyed watching the level of her team increase each year in the World Inline Cup. This event has helped push our players skills up to next level. When we first began attending the event our players were very new to the sport. Now we are closing the gap and winning games on a more consistent basis due to the level of play at the World Inline Cup. The best part is our players come away from the event with a great cultural experience and some incredible memories that will remain with them for a lifetime. Mr. Easter realized there was a great opportunity to partner with PSE that would allow him the opportunity to focus on his association and inline hockey goals by enabling someone else to look after the management piece of the event. PSE has been commissioned to insure each participating team has an incredible life experience, which is what the event is ultimately about. Labeled as the ultimate player experience, teams will be presented with opportunities to watch the crocodile hunter, learn how to surf, experience exotic animals, deep sea fish, scuba dive and be exposed to entirely different culture in Australia in 2006. Canada Inline has commissioned PSE to insure visiting players and countries experience these unique and often once in a lifetime opportunities. Premier Sports Events is an event management and sports travel focused company offering a complete range of services for tournaments, organizations and traveling sports teams. The company is committed to providing professional service and insuring each team, organization and events needs are met. For more information regarding PSE please visit www.gopremierevents.com or contact Jeff Lukasak at premiersports@charter.net , phone 269-978-2418. Taylor SportsPlex Taylor, MI CHATHAM, Ontario, Canada Canada Inline, the National Governing Body for Inline Hockey, member of the Canadian Olympic Committee and proud member of the Federation of Roller Sports (FIRS) announced that the 7th Annual World Inline Cup will be located in Taylor, Michigan, USA July 18-24, 2005. This is the first time that Canada Inline has taken the event outside of Canada and we are looking forward to a great event in Taylor, Michigan, USA, only 20 minutes from the Detroit International Airport and 20 minutes from the Windsor, Ontario, Canada border crossing, says Dave Easter, President CEO of Canada Inline. Look for future World Inline Cups being staged around the world, he added. The Taylor Sportsplex, featuring four full size rinks with Ice Court Flooring will be the home of the 7th Annual World Inline Cup. The World Inline Cup features teams from around the globe and has become the Ultimate Player Experience for those that attend to participate or watch. Age divisions from 10U to 21U,open men and women will compete in six round robin games and then are re-seeded into A,B and C Championship Pools for the medal rounds. With Opening and Closing ceremonies where all teams march in under their own country flag, skills competitions, tours and off-surface events planned this becomes a mini Olympics for many of the teams from around the world. Team Ontario, Ontario Selects, Alberta Selects, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, BC, Team USA (four teams per age division), Australia, Great Britain and many of our Asian Federation friends will all return with teams to compete and build friendships that will last a lifetime. With the entire event under one roof the event organizers are confident the atmosphere that has been created in the past will be recaptured once again in Taylor, Michigan. We lost some of the atmosphere that was created in the past in 2004 when the event was hosted in London, Ontario, at three different venues, says Cheryl Vinnai, National Director of World Inline Cup for Canada Inline. It was our objective for 2005 to ensure the event would be in a venue that would host all games, ceremonies and special events so players and parents would have the ability to watch all games and enjoy the International Festival Atmosphere that has become the hallmark of the World Inline Cup. Once we toured the Taylor Sportsplex we knew this was the ideal venue to host the 2005 World Inline Cup. More information will become available over the next few weeks on the Canada Inline Website under World Inline Cup 2005. A team will receive points for how they finish in each tournament they play in (2 points win, 1 point tie, 4 points Gold Medal, 3 points Silver Medal, 2 points Bronze Medal, 1 point Copper Medal) and then after all of the events in each series is over the USA Inline Hockey Cup Champion will be crowned in their zone.
