Columbia Ravens: Welcome

WE ARE - THE COLUMBIA RAVENS!

We aspire to be the premier organization in Howard County, Maryland and the surrounding communities for developing youth to compete at the highest level in football and cheer.

Founded in 2003 as a nonprofit corporation, the Ravens teach the youth of our community the fundamentals and sportsmanship of football.

The goals and objectives of the organization include:

  • Fostering an environment that encourages youth to strive for excellence both on and off the field of play,
  • Providing equal and affordable access to sport programs for all youth,
  • Providing a safe, well-structured setting for youth to learn the fundamentals of football and cheer and promoting the general well-being of all players, and
  • Providing opportunities for players and their families to give back to their communities and make a positive difference in the lives of others.

The organization is treated as a public charity and is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Therefore, all donations are tax-deductible for federal income tax purposes.

Football is like life, it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority.   – Vince Lombardi

Fall 2012 Football Registration Now Open

Fall 2012 Registration for the Columbia Ravens Football is Now Open

Players and families may register in several ways:  (1) Walk-up registrations at locations and dates to be announced, (2) Mail-in registrations and (3) ONLINE registrations.

For Mail-In registrations, families should complete the registration form and waivers and medical form and submit along with payment of $175 by check or money order payable to the Columbia Ravens Football, Inc, P.O. Box 6413, Columbia MD. PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH TO THE PO BOX.

For ONLINE Registrations, families should simply click on the hyperlink noted in the HEADLINES to submit their payment via PayPal by debit or credit card.

All registration forms and waivers and medical forms should still be completed and mailed or hand-delivered to the Ravens. You should bring a copy of the receipt as proof of payment.

For families in need, the Ravens offer the following programs:

  1. Installment plans.  Families may request an installment plan by completing an installment plan agreement form and submitting it with the registration form and waivers, equipment deposit and medical form either by mail or in person.  The plan will allow families to make three payments to cover the registration fee.  The first payment is due on or before May 1; the second payment is due on or before June 1 and the final payment is due on or before July 1.
  2. For those families who need greater assistance, we will offer direct full or partial assistance.  In order to be considered for such assistance, families must complete the Financial Assistance Form and mail it in or hand-deliver it with all completed registration forms, waivers, equipment deposit,  and medical form.  The application will be reviewed by the Ravens Board.  If denied, there are no appeals on financial assistance decisions.  We encourage families to apply early for aid for two reasons:  1) we only have a limited amount of funds earmarked for this assistance program and 2) if denied, you may still participate in the installment program to insure a spot for your player on our teams.  Priority for assistance will be given to residents of Columbia and Howard County.

Please note that the registration fee wil increase to $200 on July 1 for all players.

What do I need to register?

  • Completed registration form and signed waivers,
  • Completed medical form
  • Paid registration fee of $175 ($200 if payment submitted after July 1)
  • Equipment deposit check, payable to Columbia Ravens, in the amount of $150.  Checks are held, not cashed unless equipment is not returned in good condition
  • A current MD MVA ID card

More details about our program will be posted as Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) in the coming weeks.
