Cannons knock off Grays, 10-8, to end losing streak
DENVER, Colo. (August 23, 2009) – The Colorado Cannons defeated the Denver Grays by the score of 10-8 on Sunday morning, August 23rd, in NABA 18AAA action at Colorado Academy High School.Ryan Hubbard went 3-for-5 with four RBI as starting pitcher Josh Zavislan (5.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K; now 1-3) allowed just one earned run in five innings of work to pick up his first victory of the season. Zavislan added a three-run double while Jacob Maupin (4-for-6, SB) and Dan Gutierrez each scored three runs. Jason Dunlap, playing in his first-ever game, went 2-for-5 with a double as the Cannons (3-13-1) ended an eight-game losing streak.
Trask Munoz (3-for-5) homered and drove in three for the Grays, who saw their record slip to 8-7-1. Reliever Matt Bransfield, who went 3-for-3 with four runs scored, suffered the loss.
The Cannons are scheduled to conclude their 2009 season against the Denver Browns on Sunday, August 30th, at 12:30 p.m. at the Machebeuf High School varsity baseball field in Denver.
