Cannons eliminated from post-season contention with 8-6 loss
DENVER, Colo. (August 16, 2009) – The Denver Grizzlies defeated the Colorado Cannons by the score of 8-6 on Sunday morning, August 16th, in NABA 18AAA action at Colorado Academy High School.

Brian Williams (2-for-3) and Brian Hunt each had two RBI for the Grizzlies as starting pitcher Steve Reilly (9.0 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) went the distance. Roy Preyer (BB, HBP, SF) scored three runs as the Grizzlies improved to .500 (8-8-0) on the season.

Starting pitcher Danny Hodges went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI for the Cannons while Ted Jimenez went 2-for-4 with a double. Hodges (5.0 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 3 ER, 5 BB, 1 K) saw his record fall to 1-4 as the Cannons (2-13-1) lost their eighth straight game and were officially eliminated from playoff contention.

The Cannons are scheduled to play the Denver Grays on Sunday morning, August 23rd, at 9:00 a.m. at Colorado Academy High School.

The Cannons’ 2009 season finale (vs. the Denver Browns) is scheduled to be played on Sunday, August 30th, at 12:30 p.m. at the Machebeuf High School varsity baseball field in Denver.
