Cannons tie Red Sox, 4-4, in 11 innings
DENVER, Colo. (May 10, 2009) – The Colorado Cannons and the Denver Red Sox played to a 4-4 tie in 11 innings in NABA 18AAA action on Sunday afternoon, May 10th, at the Machebeuf High School varsity baseball field in Denver.

After the Red Sox (0-1-1) stranded the potential go-ahead run at third base in the top half of the 11th, the Cannons’ Ryan Hubbard led off the bottom half of the inning with a walk. Hubbard advanced to second base on a wild pitch to give the Cannons a runner in scoring position with nobody out. After the next two at bats resulted in strikeouts, Ted Jimenez singled to right field, advancing Hubbard to third base. A walk to Skip Davis loaded the bases, but Red Sox reliever Charlie Stevens (2-for-4 at the plate) – who tossed the final three innings on Sunday – proceeded to notch his eighth strikeout of the game to close out the contest.

Jimenez (double, two RBI) and Hubbard each had two hits while Josh Zavislan (11.0 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 BB, 12 K; no decision) went the distance and struck out 12.

Marcus Wood went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Red Sox.

Both teams finished with 10 hits and one error.

The Colorado Cannons (0-1-1) are scheduled to play the Colorado Reds (1-0-0) on Sunday morning, May 17th, at 9:00 a.m. at the Machebeuf High School varsity baseball field in Denver. Additionally, the Cannons’ game against the Colorado Twins that was originally scheduled to be played on March 29th has been rescheduled for Sunday afternoon, May 24th, at 12:30 p.m. at Colorado Academy High School in Denver.
