Browns blank Cannons, 9-0

Steinhoff collects two hits

 

DENVER, Colo. (June 28, 2009) – The Denver Browns shutout the Colorado Cannons by the count of 9-0 in NABA 18AAA action on Sunday afternoon, June 28th, at East High School in Denver.  For the box score, click here.

 

Dan Kosloski and Evan Martoia both went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for the Browns, who finished with 14 hits.  Starting pitcher Luke Klingensmith (5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K) allowed just one hit and struck out eight while picking up the win.  A pair of Browns relievers fanned yet another 13 Cannons in the final four innings.  Jordan Bruns (2-for-6) drove in two runs, as well, as the Browns improved to 5-4-0.  Kosloski, who pitched the bottom of the ninth, recorded a rare four-strikeout inning as one of his victims reached first base via a wild pitch.

 

As a team, the Cannons (2-7-1) finished with just three hits and struck out 21 times.  John Steinhoff went 2-for-3 as Danny Hodges (6.0 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 3 K) saw his record slip to 1-2.  The Cannons are now hitting .223 as a team.
