Amateur Softball Association
The Amateur Softball Association was founded in 1933 and has evolved into the strongest softball organization in the country. The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) named ASA the National Governing Body of Softball, pursuant to the Amateur Sports Act of 1978.

USA Baseball
By an act of Congress in 1978, USA Baseball was named the National Governing Body for the sport and represents baseball in America as a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and the International Baseball Federation (IBAF). Little League Baseball is a USA Baseball National Member organization.

American Legion Baseball

Vermont Mountaineers
The Vermont Mountaineers play in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), the largest wooden bat summer program for college baseball players. Founded in 2002, the Mountaineers play a 42-game summer schedule between June and August. Home games are played at the Montpelier Recreation Field; Skip is the team mascot. The Mountaineers won the NECBL championship in 2006 and 2007.

Vermont Lake Monsters
The Vermont Lake Monsters (Vermont Expos prior to 2006) have been a Class A, short-season affiliate of the Oakland Athletics since 2011. Previously, the team was affiliated with the Washington Nationals/Montreal Expos MLB organization since 1994. The Lake Monsters play a 76-game summer schedule between June and September in the NY-Penn League. Home games are played at Centennial Field in Winooski, Vt; Champ is the team mascot. The Vermont Expos won the NY-Penn League championship in 1996.
