CLYDE WHITTEMORE LITTLE LEAGUE
CWLL has been our local community's choice for baseball and softball programs since 1967. All Vermont youth ages 4 to 12 and living in the Washington county towns of Duxbury, South Duxbury, Waterbury, Waterbury Center and North Moretown are welcome to join. CWLL is located at the Vermont Crossroads of Route 100, Route 2, and I-89.  Clyde Whittemore Little League - Bringing Kids Home!

Eight Advance to Pitch Hit & Run Sectionals

Six baseball and two softball players advanced to the Newport sectional competition of Major League Baseball's Pitch Hit and Run competition:

Friday, May 3
Opening Day Weekend Is Here!

Clyde Whittemore Little League will be celebrating its annual Opening Day festivities this weekend in Waterbury. The weather couldn't be more perfect. Here is the schedule of events:

Saturday May 4

Picture Day @ Thatcher Brook Primary School  - Players will meet by age group (see below) and receive their team uniforms, with individual and team photos to be taken by representatives from Creative Memories. 

8:30 am - Major / Minor League baseball and softball

9:30 am - Farm League

10:15 am -  Tee Ball

 11:00 am - MyTEE Ball

11:55-12:10 - Parade line-up in front lot of Thatcher Brook

Parade to State Complex begins at 12:10!

In the afternoon, some folks are planning  to have a fields work bee at Hope Davey.  If you're able to help, please ask a CWLL rep for more information! Wheelbarrows, flat-bladed shovels are needed.

Sunday May 5

Pitch, Hit & Run Competition @ Hope Davey Field (12:30 pm)

All registered players are invited to come have some fun and test their skills against their friends. Ages 7 and up enter the national competition, sponsored by Major League baseball. Winners at this level advance to districts, where they compete for a chance to win a trip to Fenway Park!

10-11 am - Farm League Baseball

11 am-12 - Major/Minor League Softball

At Thatcher Brook:

9-10 am - MyTee

10-11 am - Tee Ball

PLEASE NOTE: No Major League Baseball Practice this weekend.

Training Sessions on Sunday, April 14

Clyde Whittemore LL will be hosting indoor spring training sessions this Sunday, April 14, at Crossett Brook Middle School. The gym will be open for registered players in all divisions, with the following time breakout for each level of play:

 9-10 am - MyTEE Ball

10-11 am - T-Ball

11 am-NOON - Softball (Major and Minor)

NOON-1 pm - Baseball (Minor)

1-2 pm - Baseball (Major)

4-5 pm - Farm League

Indoor Spring Training Session Saturday

Clyde Whittemore Little League will be holding our first indoor spring training session of the year THIS Saturday, March 16, in the Crossett Brook Middle School gymnasium. 

This first session will be open to all REGISTERED baseball and softball players who plan to play in the Minor or Major League divisions. There will be a computer available to register at the school, but we strongly encourage you to sign up at home ahead of time (see link above), to allow your player to make most of the session! 

8-year-olds who are planning to go through Skills Assessments to play at the Minor League level are also welcome. Skills Assessments are planned for March 30.

Additional indoor training sessions will be announced for April, including some sessions for the younger Tee and Farm players.

Opening Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 4. Thank you for your patience as we iron out some of the details with our registration site. We hope to be on-line and ready for sign-ups in the next week. We'll also post information soon regarding indoor spring training sessions during March and April.

Ashley Wins Regionals, Scores 7th Best Score in PHR

Ashley Proteau, who just wrapped up her season with the CWLL Blue Jays softball team, came in first in the regional final of Major League Baseball's Pitch, Hit and Run skills competition, held at Fenway Park on Saturday, June 23rd. Competing in the 7/8 Girls Division, Proteau beat out two other finalists representing the entire New England region. Her score ranked 7th in the nation when compared to the winners from regional competitions held at all 30 Major League ball parks.

CWLL to Host 11-12 Baseball District IV West Pool

Clyde Whittemore Little League has been named as the host for the Vermont District IV West Pool of the Little League Baseball tournament. This is one of many opening acts in the worldwide tournament that will culminate with the Little League World Series in August.

The competition will consist of five age 11-12 teams - defending state champions Barre, Central Valley, Mad River, Montpelier, and of course, Clyde Whittemore. The exact schedule and format of play will be finalized soon, but games will get underway at Hope Davey Park on the weekend of June 29-30 with action continuing all week and ending the weekend of July 7-8. Two or three of the five teams will advance to the District IV Finals in Barre the following week. 

Please check back for all of the details and make plans to support our youngsters as they experience the thrill of participating in this great event.

CWLL Player Qualifies for PHR Regional Finals

Ashley Proteau smacks the ball off the tee

For the second year in a row, a Clyde Whittemore Little League player has qualified for the regional finals of Major League Baseball's Pitch, Hit & Run competition. Ashley Proteau will compete on the field at Fenway Park prior to the June 23 Red Sox game for a chance to advance to the national finals.

Proteau qualified through the local event hosted by CWLL on May 6 to advance to the sectionals held in Newport, VT on May 19. Her total score of 704 was among the top three in the Age 7/8 Girls division  out of all the sectional qualifiers held in New England.

With a strong showing at Fenway, Ashley could advance to the national finals at Major League Baseball's All-Star game on July 10 in Kansas City.  She follows in the footsteps of her Blue Jays teammate Sophia Buonomo, who reached the regional finals in the Age 9/10 Girls division a year ago.
