I don't have a lot of time to do news today but I will say Brad pitched very very well last night in beating Uittos. The offense finally came alive in the 5th and generated some runs lead by Ryan Nye 3-4 and 3 RBI's. Good thing he isn't golfing tonight. Good quick whipping!! Let's get another tonight.

Clouses Service Center Wins!!!!
Well Clouses Service Center ended their 4 game losing streak on Monday with a 14-8 much needed victory. Moral was a bit low heading into Monday's game but Coach Bear had a plan. He figured once he got a new red's hat the so far dissapointing season would turn around, but coach Bear also made another key addition to the equation: HIGH SOCKS. I think without both the new red's hat and the high socks the day could have been a disaster. But because there was two changes there was equilibrium between the two forces.
Or
It may have been because Yeakles is a pretty bad team.
Or
Josh pitched pretty effectively earning Clouses first complete game win of the season.
Or
Burdette and Nye knocked in 9 runs between them including Nye's 3-5 performance and D.J.'s Grand Slam!!!
Or
Because Loren came to her first Tiffin Men's league game.
Or
A complete team effort and a combination of all of the above. Good win guys, now let's get rolling.

Clouses Service Center Drops 5th Game 11-9
Clouses Service Center fell to 1-5-1 with a loss last night versus Clouse Insurance. Clouse Insurance jumped out to an early 8-0 lead scoring 3 in the first and 5 in the second with the help of some well located hitting. But Clouses Service Center (CSC) battled back strong in the third getting 5 of their own. Clouse Insurance added 3 more in the fourth in what proved to be some very big insurance runs. CSC got 1 back in the fourth and nearly completed the comeback in the final frame plating 3 and stranding the tying runs on first and second. Key hitters for CSC were Mark Adams 4-4 with 3 runs, Ryan Nye 4-4 with 3 RBIs, and Jeremy Reed 3-4. D.J. Burdette also had 3 RBIs. Team consensus is that when we start to pitch a little better that this team is going to be dangerous.

Night with Tequila = Better Hitting
5 CSC team members attended a closed door meeting last Saturday night to try and figure out why CSC is struggling so far this season. The meeting was rather mundane until someone suggested we drink tequila because it would make us smarter. Im not sure about smarter, but a lot more drunk. I was skeptical, in all of my past experiences drinking tequila, people always ended up naked. We sure didnt want that to happen. But we tried it. What resulted were two conclusions: 1. We arent pitching very well and 2. We arent hitting very well. Pretty smart huh. In the first 6 games CSCs strikeout total nearly equaled their hit total. It was decided that this combination was not going to produce winning baseball. And while ultimately we are playing to enjoy ourselves, it is much easier to choke down a few Keystone Lights after a win. Because of league rules, and the strict salary cap CSC is unable to make any more personnel moves. Earlier in the season CSC was able to ink a deal for Josh Theis from Uittos for a case of beer and a Tom Emansky Defensive Drills video. Reportedly Coach Uitto only showed the video to his son Kyle. It turned out to be a great deal for CSC. Josh has batted .333 since leaving the dark side. Saturdays meeting did produce one experimental yet simple change: The lineup. It was concluded that D.J. and Bear are two of the better run producers on the team despite having limited opportunities because they hit at the top of the order. After a couple of tequila mixed drinks it was like we could see the future. An idea was proposed to move D.J. and Bear down in the order a bit, and attempt to get people on base in front of them so they could have more run producing situations. Game 1 of the experiment: Bear was moved from the lead spot in the train to the three hole and D.J. was moved from the dark hole or 2 hole to the 6 hole. Mark Adams and Adam Gnepper were moved to the top of the order. Adams and Gnepper reached base in 7 out of their 8 plate appearances giving R.B.I. opportunities to the Bear, Johnny O, Ryan Nye, and D.J. Nye and D.J. responded by driving 3 runs a piece and Johnny O added 1. Overall from top to bottom the lineup made more solid contact than in previous games. Game 1 of the experiment was a success; accept the naked part on Saturday.

OakLumber Breaks it Open With Big 6th
It was opening night in the Tiffin Mens League and Clouses were forced to face one of the top teams and top pitchers in the league. Each team scored 1 in the first, but Clouses captured the lead 3-1 in the second when Bub lead off with a home run and followed up by an RBI single from Adam Gnepper. OakLumber got one back in 3rd and took the lead with 2 in the 5th. But the 6th proved costly for Clouses as they watched OakLumber pull away with 4 more. Bub started for Clouses and pitched very effectively. Tyson Depinet entered in relief in the 5th and struggled a bit with command. Both pitchers are going to be crucial to Clouses success this season

Clouses Service Center Comeback Falls Short
Bear brought Clouses Service Center within one in the seventh with no doubter over the right field fence. The home run brought three runs in, but Clouses would eventually fall short and lose 6-5. Adam Gnepper started on the bump and was a little shaky in the first inning, giving up three runs. Gnepper shut them out over the next three. His brother Brad took over and also endured a shaky first inning, but looked sharp in his second inning. Top hitters for Clouses included Bear 1-4, 3 RBI, HR. Ryan Nye (Biff) 3-4, Bub 1-2 RBI, BB. The managing contingent commented that overall it was a good first week. Everyone is still trying to get their timing at the plate. The defense played fairly well. Pitching was up and down but four pitchers got work and all showed some good signs.

Ode to Two Tiffin Mens League Greats
Clouses Service Center played their opening game on Monday night but the game meant more than just a win or a loss in baseball game. It was a time to mourn and also a time to celebrate the loss of two Tiffin Mens League staples over the past several years. One was a fallen comrade, a man that traveled the path to the dark side. The other was a just a dick. But they are both much more than generalizations.
Our comrade, Mark Gaetto, played nobly in numerous positions for Clouses Service Center over the past few seasons. All the while, unbeknownst to his teammates that he led a secret and dark double life. We all know Mark loved himself very very much. Maybe too much. What led him to break the law? Was it the thrill of the catch? We will never know, but we do know that Mark will be in a better place. Well probably not, but Im sure hell make somebody a happy cellmate. In closing Id like to give Mark just one piece of advice for his future once he fleas the bars. If theres grass on the infield, dont always play ball.
Jim Brown has led the Lima team for many seasons, playing in the Tiffin Mens league. He always recruited the top talent from the area and consequently won many league championships. But were they satisfying him? I dont think so. He won much like the Yankees do, signing the top free agents to large contracts and paying them with hand gifts. But they never really seemed like a team. Not the kind of team JB likes. Once they showed up to the championship game with 17 players and batted every single one. Fortunate to win, JB still didnt seem pleasured. JBs loins still burn for that one group that can make him feel full filled. So when JB found out that Lima was not going to be allowed to participate in the Tiffin Mens League this season he was deeply upset and disappointed. Its okay though. You will recover JB. You will find your team.
