2013 Season 2013 Season

Saturday, March 5
Another Year
Greetings to all you friends of the feather. After inches and sometimes feet of snow, the signs of spring are starting to return. With that said, yes friends the Chiefs are making preparations for the 2011 season. As usual our workouts will be begining soon. The spots for this seasons squad will be limited again but we encourage anyone interested in joining us to send us your info to chiefs.baseball@yahoo.com. As for teams this summer, we will have Saturdays open for games. We will only set up home-home contest this season as the price of petro will limit everyone in their travel. Send your dates to the same e-mail above and we will work out something. Best of luck to everyone this summer!!!

Tuesday, May 24
Opening Night
The Chiefs kick off the 2011 season tonight at 8:30pm at Roselawn #1 against the Yorkville bunch. Wear white pants and green tops and start the march back to Louisville.  Weather permitting of course.

Wednesday, May 25
BOOO
Well, the 2011 starts out likes the 2010 season. Yup, a rainout. Oh brother. We will now start the season on Thrusday night at 6:30pm at Roselawn against the Bulldogs. Wear white pants and green tops.

Thursday, May 26
Schedule Changes
Notice the CRC schedule has changed for this week and next. Make a note of it and when the new schedule is out updates will be posted.

Tuesday, May 31
Season Opener

Finally the 2011 Chiefs campaign got under way. The opponent for the first night would be no stranger to the squad. The battle would be against the CoBalts. So with lots of new faces and some veterans, it begins. Chiefs jump out quick to a 2-0 lead behind lefty but soon the team got into the christmas spirit as they hand over 5 runs neatly wrap. Errors!!! Then for the heck of it, 2 more runs are given away with a pretty bow on them as the CoBalts lead 7-2. Top of 7th sees newcomer Stevie hammer a shot to RC for a 2 run jack as the game finishes 7-4. Least the homerun club got started early, other than that not much to write about. Next game is Thursday night at 6:30pm at Roselawn #1 against the Hustle. Outcome should be better.

Other Christmas presents were handed out as half of the World Series roster appears on different teams. Never saw that coming.

Sunday, June 5
Thats better

Night 2 of the League sees the Chiefs play newcomers the Hustle. Newbie Sunderman takes the bump and serves up one lone hit over 3 innings of work. Roe gets 2 innings of work with only 1 hit. Another new face Meyer is wickedly good and Ol' Miller Time returns to the Chiefs and looks gooood. Chiefs spread out 6 hits to score 2 runs against a good Hustle staff as things come around for the 2-0 win.

Next up is the Bulldogs at 6:30pm at Roselawn # 1. Wear white tops and pants.

Wednesday, June 8
Grrrrr!

The Chiefs returned to action last night in the CRC and squared off with the Bulldogs. Lefty takes the hill looking to redem himself after the first outing and tosses a big muzzle on the Dogs. Shaun throws zeros up again with the nasty stuff. Anthony works the last 2 innings as the Bulldogs score one in each frame as the Chiefs go onto an 8-2 victory. Chiefs knock the ball around the park and turn in another solid performance as we stand 2-1 on the young season.

Next up is the football team roster of the Stars on Thursday at 6:30pm at Hille Field. Green tops and white pants for this one. Then on friday night we start a 3 game series with the Shady Nook Jackers of Fort Wayne. Gonna be a fun 3 days there.

Friday, June 10
Chiefs Shoot down the Stars
Thursday night league action pitted the Chiefs against the football roster of the Stars. Roe takes the hill for the Tribe and is impressive through 5 innings of work allowing 3 runs. Meyer gets homered for 4 cheap runs and Kyle gives up one. Chiefs bats go to work early and never stopped as they go onto the 9-8 victory. Back at it on Saturday.

Sunday, June 12
Weekend Sweep

On Friday night the Chiefs welcomed Shady Nook from Ft.Wayne to town and also some big thunderstorms. So we cancel friday night and cross our fingers to play on Saturday. Sunshine prevails but the field is under water as the Chiefs groundscrew clocks in at 9:15am with brooms and rakes in hand. At 1:10 we throw the first pitch and the games are on. Sunderman toes the rubber and gives up a hit. Chiefs promptly go out and score 5 runs on Shady Nook and this one is cooking. The boys rip the cover off the ball in the first 5 innings. Luke goes deep for a 3 run tater as we plate 10 runs and cruise to a 10-1 win.

Game 2 is Anthony as the Jackers score first. Chiefs are a little slower this time but wake up and score 3 runs to go up 3-1. Another in the 5th makes it 4-1 as the bullpen is lights out again as the Chiefs win 4-1 and sweep Shady Nook. We now stand 5-1 on the season.

Wednesday, June 15
Jeckyl & Hyde

Last night at the clover patch called Hille, your Cincinnati Chiefs took on Cheviot in CRC action. Both pitchers are dealing as the Cheviot starter has a no-no thru 4. Then the wheels fell of as the Chiefs erupted for 13 runs in the 5th inning. Walks and hit batters and walks and hit spell the end of it as Meyer and Stevie combine on a 1 hitter as the Chiefs win 13-0.

Chiefs stand at 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the league as we battle the Stars on Thursday at 8:30 pm at Roselawn. Wear white pants and the Orange tops will be there.

Saturdays games are at Rotary Park in Beavercreek Ohio. Take 75 N to 675 N. Exit onto 35 east towards Xenia. Turn left at the first light, Factory Rd. Turn right at next light, Dayton-Xenia Road. Go thru the first light and turn left into the park. Follow the road all the way to the back right side of the park. The field sits to the right.  Gray pants and green tops.

Friday, June 17
Ouch!!!
Last night the Chiefs took a right hook to the chin as the Stars and the umps 1 hit the gang. Not much to say other than we need to pick up our playing ability and gt after it. Back at it tomorrow as we hit the road for Rotary Park for a double dip with the Sox. Game time is 1:00pm. Wear white pants and green tops and bring the white tops just in case.

Wednesday, June 22
Updates

After taking a double sunshine rainout, the Chiefs return to action tonight at 8:30pm at Roselawn #1. Wear white tops and pants.

CRC action was rained out for Tuesday. Chiefs play Thursday night @ 6:30pm at Roselawn. Wear white tops and pants.

Saturday's DH has been moved to Georgetown College, since no fields are open. Game times will be 4:00pm and 6:30pm. Gray pants and green tops for both games.

Saturday, June 25
Thanks

Chiefs head to Roselawn only to hear that our opponent is not coming because their Coach doesn't listen and can't tell the difference between field #1 and field #2. Field 2 was closed while field 1 was open. Mainly because of the Chiefs grounds crew that worked it over two saturdays ago. So the Chiefs throw the pitch and take the forfit win but we are still out umpire money and gas money. Guess it is true when they say moles can't hear, only feel vibrations.

Saturday we head to Georgetown College to play a DH on a field without a grass lip that requires face protection. Game time is set for 4:00pm with # 2 right behind it. Wear gray pants and green tops.

Sunday, June 26
Brooms Packed

Your Cincinnati Chiefs traveled south on saturday to the friendly confines of Georgetown College for a DH with the Eastern Kentucky Ridgerunners. First game of the day sees both teams trot out their aces and the Chiefs get locked into a classic pitchers duel. Roe is impressive mowing down the Runners and tallying 11 K's on the day. A blister sees him leave in the 7th with bases loaded. Meyer takes over, gets a K, sniffs out a suicide squeeze and then a ground out to Tres at SS. Chiefs last at bat sees us step up and win a game. Luke singles, moves to 2nd on a wp. Back to back K's sets the stage for Williams as he drives a pitch up the middle to score Luke as the Chiefs win 1-0. Meyer gets the W for game 1.

Game 2 sees the same line-up for the Chiefs as we like to travel light go to work. Two straight walks, a HB and then some hard line drives plate 3 runs in the 2nd as the Chiefs go up 3-0. Meyer is on the bump to keep working and keeps the Ridge Runners in check until the 5th as a hit to left turns into a triple as it hits of the fence post and travels along the warning track towards CF. A single sees KY score their first run of the day as the Chiefs are up 6-1. Stevie takes over and gives up one more and cruise to the win 6-2. Meyer picks up wins in both games today as the Chiefs push their record to 9-2 heading into a big week of games.

Tuesday the Chiefs return to Roselawn to battle Yorkville at 8:30, Thursday at Roselawn at 8:30 and Friday up to Fort Wayne for the Opening round in the 4th of July Tournament. Saturday is 2nd & 3rd rounds of pool play and Sunday will be the Semi's and Finals. Seven big ball games on tap for the Squad as we build towards July.

You can catch all the action live for the Chiefs by following this link www.iscorecast.com and typing in the code t3kvvkmxtd in the box at the left.

Monday, July 18
A few updates

Chiefs return from Georgetown Ky to pick up league play again against Yorkville. BC sets the tone as he homers on the 2nd pitch he sees. Anthony goes 5 strong as the Chiefs win 4-1.

Next up we play CoBalts on thursday. After jumping to a 1-0 lead and carrying a no-no thru 5 innings, Chiefs decide to implode and hand CoBalts another cheap win. Final is 7-1.

Off to Fort Wayne for the 4th of July. Chiefs draw LaMargarita in round 1 and are taking it to them but with little pitching in tow can't hold the lead as we fall 6-5. Saturday pits the gang up against the Cubs and we basically fell down in a big pile off Indiana poo as the no-fight Chiefs roll over and lose 5-1. Saturday night is the last game and we need to save face. Mother Nature chimed in blow us away, much like the Cubs were doing again. So that trip turns into a huge bust as we go 0-2 waste money. Damn boys, lets go!!!

So the weary Chiefs return to the crap hole called Hille to have our asses handed to us by the Hustle 4-1. Again we score first but decide to hand things over as the Hustle bunted us off the field. Another no-fight night as roster drought is setting in now.

Thursday we are up against Yorkville in a must win situation at the unfriendly playable confines of Roselawn Park. Field # 2 is horrible and I mean horrible. Spottz goes yard as the Chiefs puff out 3 runs on the night behind Anthony's quality start to win 3-0.

On Tuesday, Chiefs and Bulldogs show up, as does the rest of the league but no men in Blue. Huh, that is strange.

Thrusday night the Chiefs sporting pitchers batting tackle the Cheviot 9. Short summary: Chiefs win 4-1. Oh man.  Brantley and Brennamen quote; so how we looking, Not Good!

On saturday the Chiefs management did something they haven't done in a long time, cancel a DH on the road. No starting pitchers to make the trip to Portland to play the Rockets. Are you kidding me? So off weekend for the 2 clubs as Portland Coach decides to rip us  a new one after saying he understands where we are coming from. Guess a good question to ask to Randy would have been how much money you out? Answer, zero. Normally the Chiefs are footing the bill when a team no-shows us, as the case the last 3 seasons. Well Randy Miller, once agains my apologies for not being able to keep our date with you. Least I called you on Thursday night and let you know.

So July 19th, we play the Flames at Hille Field at 8:30pm. Dress in all whites and bring hockey mask if you play the infield, might need them. Yikes!!!

Tuesday, July 19
Wow!!
The Chiefs rolled back into Hille on Tuesday night. With a heat index of 105+, we wait out a error fest between Cheviot and the War Dawgs. Finally it is our turn to play as the complex is surrounded by thunder & lighting. All we get is a little breeze, still hot. Chiefs vs Flames match up from the first week of the season. ???????????????????????????????????????????????????

Thursday, July 21
That was fun
Chiefs head for Roselawn on Thursday for the last league game of the year. Opponent tonight, the War Dawgs. Sounds like a good game. Lefty takes the hill and goes K, K , 1B , K. Last batter threw the bat farther than anything he hit in the AB. Chiefs go BB, E, WP, BB, FC, 2B, 1B for 3 runs. Dawgs, nothin'. Back to work in the 2nd as the walks and HBP mount up as we score 3 more. Doggies score a run in the 3rd and start to chirp but lefty K's the side, again. Chiefs return the run plus 3 more, enjoy the walks and show the kids how you to hustle. Schau gives up a run but the inning ends as Reeds steps on first and fires to second to double up the runner jooging. Back to the dish for us as more walks and HBP. Then the icing on the cake, TC murders one to Left for a 3 run tater. Stevie goes 1-2-3 to end it. Chiefs cross the plate 15 times, need only 4 hits but get 12 BB's and 6 HBP and a ton of wild pitches.

Saturday, July 23
WTF? Look Out!!

Final game of the regular season sees the Chiefs head to Testermann Park, what a nice smooth field, to battle the Beavercreek Sox. Hotter than hell and muggy doesn't phase the team one bit. Anthony takes the bump and goes to work. 2nd batter reaches via error but zac tosses him by 5 feet, next guy K. Chiefs borrow helmets again and something happened. 9 runs on 7 hits, 3BB's and the race is on. Sox have a look of disbelief on their face. Anthony sets them down, Chiefs go to work and don't let up. Sox only got one runner to 3rd as Anthony goes 7 strong gives up 3 hits on the day. Chiefs dent the plate 19 times on 17 hits along with 9 free pass as they guys look ready and focused for the City Tourney.

City starts on Tuesday as we open up defense of the Co-Title against the Stars. One and done this year. Winner to NABF Regionals, losers go home. The deck is stacked against us, newly built teams, bring anybody you want and throw the kitchen sink in for good measure but we like it that way. Has the league gotten out of hand, you bet your ass it has.

Tuesday, July 26
Reminder for tonight

Just a little reminder to all the friends of the feather, we open up the City Tournament tonight at 6:30 pm at Roselawn # 2 against the Stars. If our GM can remember to, you can log onto the follow website and follow the game live.

www.iscorecast.com   then type in t3kvvkmxtd where it ask for the ID. Should be a lot of fun.

Tuesday, July 26
Chiefs Move On

So as not to offend anyone or get their briefs all tangled up, the short version of tonight. Chiefs move on, Stars bow out of City. Final score 16-9. Lefty gives the win in relief. Congrats to the Stars players on a tremendous season. Best of luck to all of them in their respective college programs.

Sad note, the NABF 22 & under World Series has been cancelled due to lack of interest. WOW!!

Chiefs play tomorrow at 8:30 @ Roselawn vs winner of War Dawgs/East Bound/CoBalts. Wear white pants and black tops.

Wednesday, July 27
Update

Tonights games vs the CoBalts/East Bound/War Dawgs winner will start later than scheduled due to a power outage on the field last night. War Dawgs and East Bound must finish their game first, then the CoBalts play the winner, then we finally play. Plan on a long night at the field and bring plenty of water.

On the other field, Brew Crew beat Yorkville, Flames rout Royals. Bulldogs play Brew Crew, winner their plays Flames at 8:30.  Both 8:30 game winners then move on to play on Thursday at 6:30 in the Finals.

Thursday, July 28
Chiefs Prevail

Last night was the semi's for the City. Chiefs once again got to lock horns with the CoBalts. As usual over the last 4 years in post season play, the game is a dandy. Lead goes back and forth as the CoBalts starter was on. Anthony throws just as well as some timely hits for the Chiefs give us the lead as Lefty comes in again and slams the door on the CoBalts. Chiefs win 3-2 and move onto the finals tonight at 6:30 on Roselawn #1 against the Flames. Lets dig down and find one more big win.

Wear black and white again.

Wednesday, August 3
City Finals

For the 3rd straight year, your Cincinnati Chiefs were playing in the CRC City Tournament Finals. This year the opponent would be the Flames. Meyer gets the call to the bump for the tonight. Game starts out quiet as the Flames go in order. Chiefs get a runner to 2nd but leave him. Flames plate 3 in the home half of the Second with 3 hits and a few wild hops on the infield. Routine ground balls that fly up like the wind caught. Chiefs again get a man to 3rd but leave him. Flames attempt a squeeze on the 4th but Shaun gets the pitch delivered in time for the 3rd out. The 5th sees 4 more runs on the board as the Chiefs bats have gone silent in the game. Sunde takes over and puts  ahalt to things as the Tribe now must dig deep. In the 6th the Chiefs take advantage of the bad field conditions and some walks to plate 3 runs and plate 1 more in the 7th but tonight would not be our night as the game ends 7-4. So the Flames secure the 2nd NABF Regional bid along with the CoBalts taking the 3rd bid by way of more $$$ than us.

But good news always follow the club and the call comes for the NABF National Office that puts the Chiefs into the Regional in Cincy as the 4th team. No team from Louisville this year so we occupy that spot.

So, Regionals open up on Thursday at 7:00 pm at Roselawn. Chiefs and Flames meet up first, followed directly by the Bulldogs and CoBalts. Winners from each game meet at 9:00 pm on Friday, losers play at 7:00 pm. Lose 2 and you are out, win and keep moving on.

Gentleman, lets roll out to Roselawn tomorrow wearing white pants and bring all 3 tops. We will decide at the field.

Tuesday, August 9
NABF Regionals

Chiefs open up the 2011 NABF Regional Tourney against the Flames. Somehow the guys must have enjoyed their off time to much as we muster 1 run on 2 hits and get skunked 11-1.

Friday night is a different story. We get to play the CoBalts and try to retain the streak against them in the NABF. Chiefs get after there starter and stomp the pedal to the floor. Heading into the bottom of the 7th, chiefs are up 7-1. After recording 2 outs we have a brain seizure and allow 4 runs to cross before recording the last out and hang on to win 7-5. Chiefs move on. Congrats to the CoBalts on another fine season!

Saturday is a day of 2 games in the blazing heat. First up is the Bulldogs. The Dogs take it to the Chiefs right away and go up 3-0. We show patience and pace ourselves in the heat. 1 in the 3rd,4 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th, 4 in the 6th, 1 in the 7th and 3 more in the 8th as the Dogs score some also but the Chiefs get more and win 14-10. Congrats to DJ and our friends with the Dogs on a fine season and CRC Regular season champs.

Our second game of the day is against the Flames. Needing a win to stay alive and two to move on, we dig deep and play hard. Roe throws 7 strong innings and the bullpen is lights outs. Both teams battled back and forth all game but in the end the Chiefs fought harder and go onto to win 6-5.

The win last night sets up the finals on Sunday. Win and go to Louisville, lose and go home. Both squads trot out there veterans to the mound. Chiefs score first as Spottz launches one into the weeds for a 2 run HR. Flames get one back in the bottom. Chiefs cant take advantage of the runners. Flames use the long ball to go up 3-2. The Tribe keeps fighting and in the 5th tie up the game. The 6th inning sees the skies darken and the wind kicks up as the Chiefs get the leadoff man on and them Mother Nature takes her turn. A down pour hits the field and the field is washed away. So the game is suspensed until word comes that Hille is dry so we start to move there but are stopped by bad info. Field is wet? It is decided that the game will resume on Monday at Roselawn at 9:00 and then 7:00. At noon the game is moved to Hille at 7:00. Alright, the game is started backup and the Flames get 2 quick outs. Then Stevie crushes a fastball to RC for a 2r jack as the Chiefs go up 5-3. We add 1 in the 7th, 1 in the 8th before the monsoon hits the field again. After several phone calls it is finally decided that the game is complete and the Chiefs win 7-3. Chiefs repeat as NABF Regional Champions and move onto to Louisville for the 2nd straight year. Been a long time since any Cincinnati Team has accomplished that feat.

The Chiefs will open up pool play on Thursday @ 1:00 pm at Derby City Fields against LaMargarita Blues. On Friday we play @ 9:30 am at Louisville Male HS and again at 2:00 pm at Bellermine University. Saturday we travel back to Derby City at 1:00 pm to play our final pool game. At 4:30 the first semi-final game is played and at 8:00 is the next one. Finals are played on Sunday at 12:00 at Derby City. Guys lets step up again and go play hard four more times and we will be in the semi-finals. With some luck and good baseball play Sunday is not out of the question for this team.

The team will be at the Fern Valley Hotel in Louisville. Parents are welcomed to stay there or anywhere they chose. Just remember that there will be 9 baseball teams in that place. Pack all your baseball gear and extra pants and such. NO COMPOSITE BATS ALLOWED. Real wood only. All you friends of the feather, pack up and make the short drive south on I-71 to root your Chiefs onto victory.

All games can be kept track of on www.i-score.com with the code t3kvvkmxtd.

Once again the Chiefs win back to back NABF Regional Titles and head for the World Series in Louisville!!! Go Team Go!!

Monday, August 15
NABF World Series

On Thursday, the Chiefs opened up the 2011 NABF World Series in Louisville Ky against the Fort Wayne Regional Champions the LaMargarita Blues. Chiefs open the scoring first as BC triples and Flamm 1B him home. But after that it was all LaMargarita as they plate 2 in the bottom half off of Roe, 1 in the 3rd and 1 in the 5th to go up 4-1. Chiefs have a few chances but the Blues pitcher throws a gem at us. Roe goes the distance but takes the loss. Next up is Pitt and Hackensack NJ on Friday. Both games at Derby City. All pool play games are 7 innings also.

At noon on Friday, the Chiefs play the Pittsburgh River Bandits, Champions of the Youngstown Regionals. Pitt stands at 2-0 in play so far. Again, the Chiefs bust out in the first inning and plate 3 runs behind BC's 2b, Flamm singles and Spottz singles. Toss in a SAC fly by Zach and a 2b by Newmann and we going good. Sunde takes the mound and allows a run in the bottom of the first 2 innings but is lights out after that. Chiefs add 1 more in the 5th to go up 4-2 as the defense shakes a little but does not break. The win puts the guys in a good spot and Pitt is now 2-1.

Our next game at Derby City is against the storied Troasts of Hackensack New Jersey, Champions of the Hackensack Regional. Troasts cross the dish early on Matty as the Chiefs struggle at the plate with the New Jersey big man. In the 3rd, the Tribe hits pay dirt as Flamm gets plinked, Spottz 2b to left and Steve-o belts on to the wall in center for 2 runs. 1 run in the 5th leads to a 3-1 lead but Hackensack is a veteran team and they put up 2 in the 6th to tie the game. Lefty takes over to get out # 3 as the Chiefs must answer. Zac gets hit, Tres singles and BC doubles to the left field gap to score 2 runs as the gang goes up 5-3. Enter the bullpen and the Chiefs win 5-3 and complete the Friday sweep. Now that puts 3 teams at 2-1 and 2 teams at 1-2 leaving one game on Saturday. This is getting interesting.

On Saturday we travel to Derby City for out last pool play game against the Buffalo Regional Champions West Herr. Buffalo needs to win to stay alive, the Chiefs need to win to win the pool or lose and only give up 3 runs. West Herr trots out their ace and we likewise. Anthony hits the first guy but pitches out of it. Chiefs go to work as BC walks, Spottz walks, Steve-o walks and zac drives a gap in RC for a double to go up 2-0. The bats were quite until the 4th when Buffalo broke thru and put up 3 runs to take the 3-2 lead. Chiefs get their chances but cant make headway against the Herr pitcher. Buffalo add 3 more runs in the 7th to go up 6-2 and hold that to win. So now the mess is made as all 5 teams in Pool A go 2-2. First time that has happened. After 20 minutes of meetings, Buffalo is determined the Pool A winners as they gave up the fewest runs and Pittsburgh is the runner up as they gave up the 2nd fewest. Chiefs miss the Semi's by 3 runs, that damn 7th inning.

So the gang accepts the news and pack up to head for home. The Chiefs have nothing to hang their heads about as we made back to back trips to the World Series. That in itself is a great accomplishment. Again we showed that we can win when needed and when there is something on the line. The guys showed the desire to win on the road and play short handed and what happens when the same lineup is not there all the time. The wheels on the wagon train for this Tribe just never got spinning at 100 mph like in the past but we still finish with a winning record and a good showing in Louisville. The Chiefs say good bye and good luck to our youngsters heading to college. Hope to see you again next summer. To the veterans, enjoy the off season and get ready to go early in 2012. Yup, the Chiefs are returning again, so lets stop the rumors and bs now about our plans. We say goodbye to Zac as he returns home to Fort Wayne and a new job. Thanks for a great 2 years behind the dish, we will miss your toughness. To all of the parents and fans that followed us around again this we say thanks to u. Your endless support and cheering us on is a big help. Even when it was 100 degree plus out. To the wives and girlfriends that put up with our hours at the park playing a game, thank you for understanding and supporting us. Last but not least, to our detractors and haters out there, its not life and death, its a game. Chill the hell out and enjoy it. Stop taking the fun out of it for everyone else by meddling in peoples business. It gets old and if you don't like how we do things, thats your problem not ours, just ask the folks that were in Kentucky the last 4 days.
