The Little League Double-Goal Coach® Program helps Little League coaches become Double-Goal Coaches, whose first goal is winning, and whose second, more-important goal is teaching life lessons through sports. Little League coaches become Double-Goal Coaches either by participating in live group workshops hosted by an individual league or by taking the online Little League Double Goal-Coach Course at http://www.positivecoach.org/littleleague.

“Our partnership with Little League International is one of the most important initiatives we have at Positive Coaching Alliance,” said PCA Founder and Executive Director Jim Thompson. “Building on the success we have had with the Little League Double-Goal Coach Program, we will work to help Little League parents become Second-Goal Parents, who focus on life lessons for their children, so that we develop Triple-Impact Competitors, committed to improving themselves, their teammates and the sports of baseball and softball.”

“This special partnership gives our program’s volunteers the tools to teach Little Leaguers much more than just the skills of hitting, throwing and catching a ball,” said Stephen D. Keener, president and chief executive officer for Little League Baseball and Softball. “In addition to the online course, Positive Coaching Alliance contributes coaching and sports-parenting content that complements Little League’s educational offerings.”

Such content includes articles, tips, and Case Studies distributed through Little League’s monthly “Little Leaguer” and “The Coach’s Box” electronic newsletters, as well as contributions to  “Coach & Manager Registry”, on the Little League website. PCA also conducts content-rich webinars for local Little League charter leaders and presentations at the DA/ADA and League Administration Training Seminars at each of the five Regional Centers.

Little League Baseball and Softball is the world’s largest organized youth sports program, with nearly 2.7 million players and 1 million adult volunteers in every U.S. state and scores of other countries. For more information, please visit http://www.littleleague.org.

About Positive Coaching Alliance

Founded as a non-profit within the Stanford University Athletic Department in 1998, Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) has the mission of “transforming youth sports so sports can transform youth.”  To that end, PCA has conducted roughly 6,000 live group workshops nationwide for more than 300,000 youth and high school sports leaders, coaches, parents and athletes.  Workshop attendees have helped create a positive, character-building youth sports environment for more than 3 million youth athletes.

PCA’s partnership network includes more than 1,100 youth sports organizations, cities and schools. In 2008, PCA will conduct roughly 1,500 live, group workshops across the U.S., while assisting thousands of other individuals via online workshops at www.PositiveCoach.org.

PCA workshops train coaches to be Double-Goal Coaches®, whose first goal is winning and whose second, more-important goal is teaching life lessons through sports. PCA sports parent workshops cultivate “Second-Goal Parents,” who focus on life lessons through sports. PCA student-athlete workshops produce “Triple-Impact Competitors,” who work to improve themselves, their teammates, and their sport as a whole.
