Travel Team Approval Procedures

At the discretion of the CSC board, Travel Teams must be approved in order to be organized and represent the CSC Club.

The intent of this procedure is to establish guidelines the CSC Board will use to approve a Travel Team for each Fall season.

  1. All Travel Coaches and/or Managers intending to register a CSC Travel Team must submit a Travel Team Information worksheet to the Board prior to March 1.

  1. All Travel teams submitting an Information worksheet to the board will be presented at the March CSC Board Meeting for “Round 1” approval.

  1. Travel Teams that obtain “Round 1” Board approval must meet the following roster requirements:

§       Roster cannot contain more than 3 “exception” players on the roster.

§       Exception players are defined as follows:

1.      Roster cannot contain more than 3 players “playing up” an age group

2.     A Boys team cannot have more than 3 girls on the roster

§       No grandfather clause exists.  Prior years’ rosters must meet this criteria going forward each year.

§       The exceptions to the above criteria are as follows:

§       No team exists (obtained Round 1 approval) in the age group below the Team’s age group

i.e. A U11 Boys team cannot have more than 3 U10 Boys on the roster if a U10 Boys team exists (obtained Round 1 approval).

i.e. A U12 Boys team cannot have more than 3 Girls on the roster if a U11 Girls team exists (obtained Round 1 approval).

i.e. A U9 Boys team can have an unlimited number of Girls and under age players on the roster.  However, the Club does not recommend a large number of underage players.

i.e. A U11 Boys team can have more than 3 Girls on the roster if a U10 Girls team and a U10 Boys teams’ do not exist (obtained Round 1 approval).

§       Players are permitted to guest play up according to the League rules (PAGS, DELCO, MASL, etc…)

§       The CSC Board has final roster approval regardless of criteria.

The club wants players to play age and gender appropriate.  This is in the best interest of the players' soccer development.  There are always players that are so talented that they are better playing "up" an age group, which is why the club permits three exceptions to our age and gender appropriate policy.  However, the Board does not want to see and may not approve "of age" players being excluded from a roster to make room for exception players.  The club also wants to see all of our Travel teams compete at the highest level of competition and we believe, as the rosters of other clubs in higher divisions show, age and gender appropriate teams give the players the best possible opportunity for soccer development and success.

  1. Travel Teams that obtain “Round 1” Board approval and meet the roster requirements stated in Item #3 must have the following number of players paid in full by the second Friday in May:

§       U9 – U11 = 5

§       U12 – U19 = 7

§       The Club Treasurer will work with the Travel Coach/Manager to determine number of paid players.  If the above criteria are met, the Treasurer will recommend “Round 2” Board approval at the May Board meeting.

  1. Travel Teams that are recommended for “Round 2” approval by the Treasurer will be presented for Board approval at the May Board meeting.

  1. Travel Teams that obtain Round 2 approval in May must have the following number of players paid in full by the first Friday in June:

§       U9 – U11 = 10

§       U12 – U19 = 14

§       Travel Teams not meeting the above criteria will not be registered to participate in any league for the 2011-2012 Soccer Season.

§       Treasurer will work with the Travel Coach/Manager to determine number of paid players.  If criteria are met, the Treasurer will issue “Round 3 / Final” approval prior to the respective League (Pags, Delco, MASL, etc…) registration deadlines.

  1. The Treasurer will make the necessary Registration payments to the respective leagues for all Travel teams receiving Round 3 approval.

  1. All Travel Teams’ fees must be paid in full by September 2, 2011
