Cheyenne Lacrosse Club: Program Info
Program Information
Cheyenne Lacrosse Club is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is dedicated to teaching children ages 8-18 and adults the game of lacrosse. The elected board members and coaches are all volunteers. The majority of club revenue is obtained from player registration fees and community-based sponsorships and donations.
This year will be the club’s fourth year of competition and our initial output for equipment, supplies and uniforms continues to be substantial. With projected registration at over 100 participants, it appears we will continue to interest the youth of Cheyenne with an alternative sport for the spring. New this season, is our commitment to keep the high school players active with a school-year program, to include an informal “fall ball” session, as well as a spring, competitive session. Also new this year, is our adult recreational league, giving those over-18 the opportunity to participate.
Cheyenne Lacrosse Club is registered with, and will participate in conjunction with, US Lacrosse. All teams will compete in Wyoming and Colorado.
Cheyenne Lacrosse Club coaches and board members are committed to offering a well-organized, safe exposure to the sport of lacrosse. Youth sports are often transformational in the lives of young people, fostering their self-esteem through a sense of mastery, teaching them lessons in emotional resilience, and allowing them to develop new and lasting friendships. It is also our goal to ensure all players have fun and enjoy being an integral part of a team.
We will accomplish these objectives through careful planning, a clear directive to our coaching staff, a well-organized and trained referee staff and direct player and parental education, to include expectations and acceptable behaviors.
Lacrosse is a new and exciting opportunity for the youth and adults of Cheyenne. As our community grows and becomes more diversified, we look forward to providing interested youth and adults the opportunity to learn America’s first sport, played by Indians in North America 400 years ago.
In the continuing effort to keep registration fees reasonable and still allow all willing players to participate in the Club program, the Board would like to encourage businesses to participate at one of the various levels of sponsorship. Our lacrosse program is entering a very exciting and challenging period in it’s development, and we depend on your support and involvement. Thank you for your consideration and generosity.
