That was the spark plug Cheyenne needed to put some runs on the board and take a 5-4 lead. Silverado quickly answered in the bottom of the 5th inning to take a 6-5 lead and putting them on the brink and forcing a "If Championship game"! Edarian Williams led off the top of the 6th with a single to center to give Cheyenne hope and the tying run on. After a walk and two outs later, up came Trevin Reynolds. On a 2-2 pitch, two outs he scorched a line drive 3-run Homerun to give Cheyenne the lead 8-6, following Trevin's Homerun was Noah Parker as he launched his second Homerun of the night, by going back to back!! Thanks also go out to the parents of our 13 players. You were supportive from the start. You made sacrifices in order to make this thing happen. Thanks for supporting these kids through all the practices and games.

Lastly, the 13 special group of kids who devoted there life for the past three weeks. These kids had a special bond and chemistry from the beginning. 7/1/2009  - Cheyenne defeated Mtn. Ridge, 9-4

Cheyenne forces the Championship "IF" game tonight by coming out and playing like the boys know how. Pitching, Defense and timely hitting was key. Hats off to Ryan Merino as he pitched his 2nd dominating performance of this tournament. The Mtn. Ridge hitters were off balance all night long. Ryan pitched 4 2/3 innings of solid baseball. Noah Parker pitch the last 1 1/3 inning to close the game out and give Cheyenne the Victory. With Mtn Ridge winning 3-0 in the bottom of the 3rd inning Trevin Reynolds came up with two runners on and hit a 3 run homerun to the opposite field to tie the game. That seemed to be the spark plug that opened the flood gates for Cheyenne as Noah Parker, Isaiah San Nicholas, Jelani Baker, Kyle Horton, Ryan Merino contributed with the bats. On the defensive end Kyle Horton started two double plays to end rallies for Mtn. Ridge. Noah snuffed out a grounder with the bases loaded to end an inning. and there was some good tracking of flyballs to get the outs!! Overall a very good performance by the Boys of the 9-10 yr old All Star team!! Great Job by the coaching staff to have the kids believe they can win. They keep pushing all the right buttons. See you Friday Night!!!

6/24/2009 - Cheyenne defeats Spring Vally 8-5

Pitching, defense and timely hitting propel Cheyenne to an opening round win. Cheyenne used 5 pitchers to stop the Spring Valley Attack. The score was 0-0 going into the top of the fourth when Noah Parker stepped up to the plate and hit an opposite 2-run homerun to the opposite field to put Cheyenne on the scoreboard 2-0. The next time up Noah was intentionally walked in the 5th inning with runners on 2nd & 3rd up came up Ryan Merino and he made them pay with a 2-run double. Cheyenne added 3 more in the top of the 6th, to bring the score to 8-2. Spring Valley made it interesting in the bottom of the 6th inning, by being patient while the Cheyenne Pitchers couldn't find the strike zone. With the bases loaded and two outs and the score 8-5, Kyle Horton struck out the batter to end the game. Cheyenne played stellar defense throwing out runners at home on two occasions to stop Spring Valley rallies, Trevin Reynolds, made some nice plays behind the plate, while Isaiah San Nicholas almost made the catch of the tournament at 1B, but was still patient to get the runner at second base. Zach Barnhart threw out a runner at home after a single from short left field.
