Chesapeake Little League: Committees
2012 Committees and Descriptions
COMMITTEES: Volunteers are also needed to organize and chair the following support functions of the league:
Finance Committee (Ways & Means): includes Sponsorship, Fundraising, and Treasurer.
Equipment Manager: direct link to the Managers/Coaches for equipment. Responsible for issuing and checking out equipment, annual review of equipment for repair or replacement and submitting a list of equipment needed. Cleaning of equipment and proper storage.
Uniform Manager: coordinates Uniform Needs and purchases. Works with Sponsorship Chair on sponsor names on jerseys. Issues uniforms to all teams.
Field Maintenance and Grounds: coordinates a committee to keep the fields properly maintained (mowing, fertilizing, seeding, etc), stocks and maintains proper levels of Field chalk. Supplies a list to the Board of suggestions for improvements. Creates a maintenance schedule. Schedules and Coordinates Field Day Volunteers and jobs.
Trophy Coordinator: seeks out trophy companies for volume discounts. Coordinates with President and Team Managers for Team Rosters, verifies names and spelling, orders trophies, distributes.
Newsletter Editor: creating an electronic CLL Newsletter once a month. Gather stories, pictures, etc. Off season, produces a printed newsletter and snail mails. Works with Information Officer to post Newsletters on Website/Facebook.
Picture Day Coordinator: seeks out bids from Photography companies, presents recommendation to board, follows up with company selected and works out details for picture day. Ensures all teams get Schedule, paperwork. Assists Photographer on picture day.
Roster Program Editor: creates and publishes a Program that includes the Rosters of every team plus sponsor ads.
Head Scorekeeper: coordinates the training of scorekeepers, fields questions and assists for standard scorekeeping. Issues Team Scorebooks and supplies.
Opening Day Ceremony Coordinator: coordinates and seeks out volunteers for all Opening Day activities. Holds committee planning meetings.
Closing Day Ceremony Coordinator: coordinates and seeks out volunteers for all Closing Day activities. Holds committee planning meetings.
Promotion/Advertising Coordinator: Coordinates a committee for proper promotion/advertising for Registration, Opening Day, All League events. (Flyers to Schools, Signs up, Clipper advertising, etc.).
Allstars Chair: ensures proper paperwork is issued in a timely manner and received from all players ages 9-18 (availability form), creates a ballot to be given to every player, Manager and Coach in the Minor/Major BB/SB divisions. Assists VP and Player Agent with issuing and collecting completed ballots. Tallies ballots and gives results to President. Meets with selection committee (VP/Player Agent/President/Secretary). Maintains Allstar Uniform inventory. Issues and collects all Allstars Uniforms. Ensures uniforms are laundered and stored appropriately. Assists President/Secretary with paperwork for Tournament Books. Reports to Information Officer all relative Tournament Information for posting on the website and email blasts.
Clinics/Camps Coordinator: seeks out and works with qualified Trainers/Companies for Clinics and Camps to benefit baseball and softball players. Works with Information Officer and Promotion Coordinator for producing and distributing flyers, promotion, and advertising. Ensures volunteers are available to assist the day of camp/clinics (setup/cleanup) and at least 1 CLL representative is present. Works with Field Maintenance Coordinator to ensure fields are properly mowed before a Clinic or Camp.
MLB Pitch, Hit, and Run Coordinator: organizes and plans the competition utilizing the Directors Guide supplied by MLB PHR Manager. Ensures enough Volunteers are present to run each of the events. Ensures enough supplies. Ensures paperwork is completed and uploaded in a timely fashion. Along with the President, awards prizes at the completion of the Competition. Works with Information Officer, Promotion Coordinator, and Board to promote the event to all Children in the Chesapeake area. Coordinates a registration day!
Nominating Chair: works with a committee to seek out qualified candidates for Board Members and other committee positions for the next year.
