Charlton MA Little League: 2010 Season Divisions
Major League9-12 year old players
This division (most commonly associated with "Little League") is a competitive league. All players are required to tryout and are selected through a draft process. The players that are not selected through the draft will play in the Minor League. The only exception to this rule are 12 year olds; all 12 year olds play in Little League. Please note that all players that were on a Little League team last year and are 11 or 12 this year automatically stay on the same team as last year. The season ends with a playoff of the top teams with the winner going on to the post season Tournament of Champions. At this time an All Star team will be selected to go on to District, States, Regionals, and if succesfull, all the way to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. In addition there will be Tournament teams selected to play in post season Tournaments throughout the area.
T- Ball
5-6 Year old players
This is the League's entry level division. At this level the player begins his understanding of baseball focusing primarily on the fun of the game. Emphasis will be placed on learning the basics of all the positions as well as getting comfortable hitting the ball off the tee. While there are game situations involved, there are no competitive games played at this level. The T-Ball season is concluded with a fun "family" day. All activities take place on Saturday mornings.
Pony League
6-7 Year old players
Pony League is where the players will expand their skills and be put into game situations. Emphasis continues to be on developing general skills while adding more excitement of game play. This is NOT a competitive division. The main focus at this age continues to be "FUN". The season concludes with a mini tournament (with everyone receiving a trophy) and participation in the leagues "Family Fun" day. All activities for this division take place on Saturday mornings.
Minor League
8-9 year old players
Minor League is where the player begins to be exposed to the advanced skills and playing situations. While still focusing on instruction, the player is exposed to weekly practices and a full schedule of games. All players at this level are required to tryout. This season ends with a town tournament with the potential for out of town Tournament Team eligibility.
AAA League
10-11 year old players
AAA League is where the player continues to be exposed to the advanced skills and playing situations. While still focusing on instruction, the player is exposed to weekly practices and a full schedule of games. All players at this level are required to tryout. All ages 10-11 who do not make Little League will play in the AAA League. This season ends with a town tournament with the potential for out of town Tournament Team eligibility.
Junior League
13-14 year old players (first year on a large diamond)
This divison is also a competitive league. This league participates in an interleague program with several other adjacent towns. This league requires occassional travel to other towns for game play. Tryouts are mandatory for ALL players with all players making a team. The number of teams will depend greatly on the number of players that register. The season will conclude with an interleague playoff for the top teams. The town of Charlton will then pick post season teams to participate in tournaments and Little League's Senior tournament that can take the top team to the finals in Florida.
Senior League
15-16 year old players
This divison is also a competitive league. This league participates in an interleague program with several other adjacent towns. This league requires occassional travel to other towns for game play. Tryouts are mandatory for ALL players with all players making a team. The number of teams will depend greatly on the number of players that register. The season will conclude with an interleague playoff for the top teams. The town of Charlton will then pick post season teams to participate in tournaments and Little League's Senior tournament that can take the top team to the finals in Florida.
